Would taking out the financials ruin the fun of them game? will it keep me from drafting? how can i sign a player that i draft without financials? i'm just really confused every time i look at the financial sheet, there are always 2 columns that are always in the red so i do not understand how i can ever win the financial part of the game. anyone care to explain this?

cash from owner is always in the red as well as subtotals

Not sure if it would take all the fun out of the game but it certainly takes a lot of interesting elements away.

I started with financials off because, as you seem to be, I was just daunted by them, mainly because of my unfamiliarity with how contracts and options and waivers etc worked. But after 10 seasons I dived in the deep end and must say I can't imagine them not being a part of the game now.

These boards are an excellent resource for topics like this. Search "financials" and see what pops up, you should get plenty of good advice about various aspects that will help you get more of a handle on them. I'm not a huge fan of the manual, but revisit it as well and you'll glean some valuable insights.

You still draft players without financials, but they just sign automatically without the need for negotiation.
