Player designated for Assignment

I am playing in Manager only mode. Letting front office do trades etc. I have about 9 games into the 1971 Cincinnati Reds season. I get a message that says a player designated for assignment whose DFA time runs out today. He must be assigned or released. Please go to the team transaction screen, select the waivers & DFA area and handle the situation.

Well if I try to advance to the next day it repeats the message. I tried to make the desired changes but it says "you are not allowed to make transactions when playing in the Manager Mode".

So is this a bug? Anyway around it? thanks

Haven't had this specific issue, but when I have had issues where I cannot do the transaction needed and it won't let me go on, closing the game and then re-opening it usually does the trick.

Yeah its between games. I logged out and back on numerous times, didn't change it. Even updated to latest version. Still stuck.

I haven't run into this (although I rarely play in manager-only mode), but maybe just need to go into commish mode to take care of the transaction..?

Maybe try changing the player's role. If he's a pitcher, make him a DH. If a position player, make him a pitcher. Maybe the AI will release him then.

If that doesn't work, maybe try making a spot for him on the team doing the same change of role to an active roster player you don't care about. So if the DFA guy is a batter, make one of your batters into a pitcher, for example. Maybe the AI will DFA the active roster guy and then be able to move the other guy back onto the team.

Tried both the changes to the players role. Even restarted the program, still get same message. I am stuck for sure. Just keeps saying his DFA time runs out today and make the changes. I try the change, can not make changes in Manager Mode.

Go in to player editor and send him where you need him.

Yeah, I guess the AI won't do actions like releasing someone until you end the day, but you can't end the day until he is removed. I guess you are in challenge mode and so can't turn on commissioner mode?

There is a bug report forum you can post this in.

Fixed and Thanks to All!

I finally figured out how to change to Commissioner mode. I sent a weak pitcher to the minors and put him back on the roster like he was for the entire season in 1971. A few days later the AI put the minor league player back on my roster. So far everything works fine. Thanks to all who posted help. I am a 60+ year old guy. I used to play Sports Illustrated Baseball table top game back in 1970 and 1971. It was a great game. Always searched for a game that would be similar and I think this is it! I have played the Reds 1970 season (they one the world series 4-3!) and plan on playing the entire decade of the 70's. This is the time I was a baseball player so brings back a lot of memories. Thanks again everyone!
