raising draft and season ratings

i am very disappointed with draft quality in 21.
1. will this work to increase draft quality?

25 rds with 125 rds created for this particular draft

2. will this work to improve offensive and/or pitching stats for a season

go to league settings- stats and a1

select appropriate yr in preseason or spring training

change the stat numbers to either lower or raise stats for a given year

Are you using relative ratings?

Are your ratings pure ratings or the relative ratings. If you look at a layer profile it should show in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Relative ratings will show how player is rated against others in that league.

For 1. I think raising the creation modifiers might work better. What you've suggested will only affect the statistical output in-game. But using the creation modifiers will probably take a few seasons for the results to be noticeable.

In LEAGUE SETTINGS go to PLAYERS.

You'll see the creation modifiers on the right. Set them how you want. If you want created players to be 50% better than the default setting, then change the settings to 1.500.

From everything I've read, do NOT mess with the Sabermetric modifiers.

If you want a short-term solution, delete all the players in the Draft Pool (as long as it isn't the day of the Draft) and then - after you've set the creation modifiers how you want them, go to Draft Day. It should create a whole new pool within the guidelines of the modifier settings. Please note, however, that you will be deleting players with in-game history at HS and COL. So if you don't want to lose them you'll need to look at it a different way.

A compromise would be - again this MUST be before Draft Day - to create draft-eligible players of a higher quality to supplement those in the pool already.

So go to LEAGUE>TRANSACTIONS and in the top RH corner you'll see the ACTIONS button. Select CREATE FICTIONAL PLAYER(S) from this. You can then instruct the engine to create as many fictional players as you want at whatever age / quality / position you want.

If you just want a cross-section of players, just choose random for position / role. Or you can be more specific.

Unless you choose one of the groupings available, the age at which these players will be created will depend on your settings in the PLAYERS tab, so go there and make sure you have set a MIN / MAX age that you want these players to be.

Then choose the quality you want, or leave as RANDOM. But if the exercise is to upgrade the quality I would suggest you choose from the upper end of the range on offer.

The most important part of all this is to select ELIGIBLE FOR NEXT DRAFT from the DRAFT ELIGIBILITY dropdown.

Then enter the number of players you want and the AI will create them.

For 2. Make sure you understand how the LTMs work before messing with them, as they are counterintuitive.

I usually go here to choose a season I want my stats to look like, and select it from the drop-down menu. For added accuracy, I go here to get the BABIP for the year I have chosen and enter it.

This thread will explain the process in more detail.

I have been doing this in my fictional league for many seasons and the accuracy is unbelievable.

No matter how you adjust your player ratings they will be relative to your league, you may want to not use relative roster to get the ratings you are looking for.
