Weird Naming Issue
I have a fictional league based around my own fictional world, complete with names of countries, cities, and players. There's a weird thing happening with the naming file.
In only one of the countries/ethnicities, the game will name a portion of the players "Smith." In the previous version of OotP 21 (I've only run two different builds), it was naming a portion of them with just the letter "L" as the last name. The weird thing is there's no name "Smith" in names file in that ethnicity (and there certainly wasn't the single letter L as a last). There are also no mistakes/crossovers in any of the names of the other nations. I've looked at the ethnic ID and everything, for bad characters in the names file to no avail (indentations are correct in world_xml, just making them cleaner here). <WORLD id="1" name="default" version="3" timestamp="OOTP Developments 2020-06-11 13:32:48"> <ETHNICITY id="9" name="Piacenzan" african="0" asian="0" east_indian="0" caucasian="1000" hispanic="0" /> EDIT: Took "Smith" out of the names file from the nation (ETID=0), re-imported file. Created 30 scrubs from that nation. Many of them last name simply "L." Put name back in file-reimported. Repeated creating 30 scrubs from that nation; still naming them L. At a complete loss now. <NATION id="9" name="Piacenza" pop="4422000" etid="9" capid="9551" gender="0" bbqual="5" abbr="ITA" dem="Piacenzan" time_zone="1"> <ETHN_PCTS> <ETHN_PCT etid="9" pct="100" /> </ETHN_PCTS> Any thoughts? At this point, I'm just going into CM to edit the name when it comes up. There are currently 150 players in the majors and minors (32 teams, 5 levels of minors) named Smith from that nation. Is there a bit to turn off cross-ETID names that I don't have set? Last edited by Juggernt; 10-17-2020 at 01:11 PM. |
