The poster is insinuating if your computer goes kaput or you buy a new computer, you won’t have to worry about reinstalling it if you buy from steam. We don’t know what OOTP customer service will look like now post-sale

Question about PC
I don't want to sound dumb or anything, but I was wondering if the acquisition only applies to mobile or PC, or even both?

And re: the concern about what happened to EHM, we're profitable. EHM wasn't. |

true - but if something crashes - or you need to reinstall the license for some reason, there have been concerned raised about this new company's customer support. with steam, once you buy the game thru them, you can redownload it anytime and it should be ready to go. i've uninstalled 3 versions of OOTP with steam and they show up in my owned games just needing to be redownloaded to operate. It may never come that the license becomes an issue - as long as Markus & team stay intact. So this point may be nothing more than dust in the wind ... just a point someone else mentioned and i was merely the echo ...

I worry about change as much as the next old, white guy. But I'm an optimist, too. And all I've ever seen or experienced with OOTP is Marcus, Lukas (or is it Markus and Lucas, I can't remember!) and the team being true to their word and retaining the highest integrity with regard to a product they obviously love greatly. They are on here constantly, personally attending to even the most ridiculous points raised. For me - and this is saying a lot because this game should be called Out of This World IMHO - this dedication / customer service and appreciation / concern for the little things is the OOTP team's greatest achievement. So I'm going to take their assurances at face value. If they turn out not to be the case, so be it. We're all only human, after all.

I know I'll never buy a non steam version again after this and as others have said this will be the death of this game. It'll be great for the next couple of versions but soon the focus will pivot to PT and the base game will die off. Not sure if it works the same on Mac |

Through this Q&A, I was able to get your opinion well.
Now I wonder what kind of blueprint Com2us is drawing on this game through this acquisition. Where should I contact to ask them these things? I'm not a reporter, I'm just a fan of this game, so I'm a little reluctant to contact them personally. I don't know if it's right to ask you this, but are they planning something like this Q&A? It would be nice if they were planning it... Last edited by jnix0000; 10-13-2020 at 02:45 AM. |

The same thing will happen here. Our team stays intact, we get help when we need it, and otherwise we will continue to do our thing. So any fear about OOTP turning into some sort of microtransactions monster is completely unnecessary. OOTP & PT are already very profitable, there is no need to change the winning formula. The only goal is to get it into the hands of more people, and Com2uS will help us to achieve this for OOTP and OOTP Go and FHM and all future products.

As I said, the worry I have - as a primarily fictional player - is that new licences bring more possibilities of restrictions on customisation and storylines.

With this move, is it realistic to expect FHM mobile down the road ?

I don't believe there is anything but sincerity in the statements coming from Markus and the team about future development... just pointing out that historically it hasn't worked out that way. Steam is a more reliable retailer for ensuring you have access to your game down the line. I still have Out of the Park 9 accessible and can reinstall it at any point I like... so I trust Steam. Shoot, I can reinstall 688(I) Hunter/Killer and find out if it works with Windows 10. Previously this didn't matter because when eSellrate or whoever didn't respond Lukas or someone else was relatively quick to help you out. They can't guarantee that they will be able to 2 or 3 years down the line though I am sure they absolutely intend for that to be the case. In short just pointing out that Steam has been reliable for customer service needs, and Com2us has no report of anyone ever thanking them for their help in a customer service issue that i can find (well, there was this one guy in 2015... but everyone seemed to think he was lieing).

5 years from you will still be able to play OOTP 21, yes. I assume you use the Fastspring version. And even if Fastspring, which is highly unlikely, shuts down in the future, we'll gladly exchange your key for a new one from a different provider, for example Steam.
