Openers-Followers | Global Strategy | L. Walker

Hi OOTP Players,

This is my first year playing. I like the game and I am having fun learning the finer points. The community has been great at providing help...thanks! That said, I have a couple of more questions.

1. Can someone explain openers and followers and how to use them? For instance, if I pick Randy Johnson as an opener and Justin Verlander as a follower, will they tandem every time Randy is due to pitch? Does that limit Justin's BP usage?

2. Aside from the obvious selections, (i.e. having a roster of base stealers and maximizing base stealing strategy, etc), what is the best global strategy to use? Does making changes in the different inning categories make a difference?

3. Has anyone heard if a HOF Larry Walker card is coming out this year? The current card does not do him justice.

Johnson would have to be one of your relievers
And Verlander in the rotation

The AI would use Johnson as a regular reliever

Then, on Verlander's days to start it would look for any relievers used as openers and use one that was available (not fatigued).
