New Tournament Restrictions - Coming Soon!

Good afternoon folks. We are excited to announce a new update coming in our next patch which will add several new Card Restriction categories to Perfect Team Tournaments

We will now have the ability to set tournament card restrictions based on the series a card is in (Special Edition, One Hit Wonder, Rookie Sensation, All-Time Legend/Peak, Historical All-Star, Future Legend, Snapshot, Unsung Heroes, Hardware Heroes).

Also, we have added Era's to the potential restrictions. Era's include:
Deadball (pre-1920)
1921-1945
1946-1960
1961-1979
1980-1992
1993-2004
2005+

These changes add hundreds of potential new tournament configurations to our database and we are very excited to start rolling them out

What does this mean? Well, obviously this means there will be some changes to the tournament offerings. Our team is currently working on this in hopes of rolling out the new list on Monday. There will definitely be tournaments currently offered that will be archived for now but most of the favorites will remain. We are reviewing registration data and will hopefully be able to provide a list which is new, fun exciting and allows users to try all kinds of new tournament formats. We'll be featuring new formats on the TWIPT Weekly Showdown over the next little bit as well (once the patch is released)

We hope you folks are excited for the next evolution of tournaments, as always, I'm available for questions and feedback as required. Keep being awesome!

...and the rich get richer

Most players won't have the cards available to field a full team in alot of those categories.
Who will? Those who have have opened (bought) tons of packs and have a plethora of cards in their collection.
Although it sounds intriguing, I think it suffers from this problem, and also think that these tourneys will take forever to fill, due to the limited number of players who will have teams they can submit to the parameters.

I think a more interesting tournament formula would be to create some low-xxxx level tournaments, such as Gold 80-85, Silver 70-75, Bronze 60-65, etc., to give those cards a bit more value in our collections, or maybe even some sort of capped tournament in Diamond/Gold/Silver/Bronze and maybe even Iron where the cap would allow for players in a spread of THAT LEVEL, and disallow those 40+ Iron cards like Connor Joe, Brooks Robinson, Milt Wilcox etc. that I get tired of seeing on my team and others in all of the capped formats. Set the cap or a hard limit so that only 2-3 at most of the top tier of a level can be used on a roster, and the rest of the cards of the level will make more meaningful contributions and you'll see more varied rosters and not the usual suspects.

I think that something along the lines of the above paragraph would generate more interest in tourneys than the idea of specific card type tournaments, while on the surface they sound good, just take a look at the realities of the amount of cards available in some of those individual categories: SE-61; OHW-453; RS-250; ATL-469.... Just MORE tournaments with the same players on all of the teams. I think that is the biggest turnoff for many tournament players even now.

Hardware Heroes, One Hit Wonder, Rookie, and All-Star have no players rated below 60. If there is a cap tournament involving these restrictions, I hope the minimum player is 60 and not 40 and raise the cap so a bronze cap is a bit more than 1375.

Random thought. Would you guys ever consider doing a 4th tournament slot that you can only use for weekly or daily? I love playing those, but rarely do because of how long they hold up a slot. If we had a 4th spot where only bigger tournaments could be played, I think more people would jump in.

The card types could be fun for one-offs, though I don't know how many of those will be doable on a regular basis (there's probably like, two different teams you could put together from future legends, maybe!)

Just hope we can cast the Bo3-8 team bronze cap into the sun and never look back.

Love the bo3-16 team/1k reward format for bronze/silver/gold, and judging from the numbers a lot of other people do too! Would love to see that for Diamond and cap tourneys, like bronze cap or gold live.

Will this make the tournaments harder to fill or will some tournaments have less teams with so many choices?

That's what I was wondering. A couple of them have already become really slow. I enjoy 1625 Silver a lot, and it has slowed to a snail's pace.

I am shocked that the live card tournaments don't fill faster as well. They filled really quickly in OOTP20.

My thinking is that OOTP22 will feature more unique tournament options and other restrictions and this is one big move into that direction.

Bronze Bo3 now says defense. It does not seem like the rules have changed. Is a change coming?

My main game was gold best of 3 for 1.0k. It has been changed to 1980-1992 only.

Something must be weird with my files then, because the Gold bo3 says defense for me as well

It let me load my old roster in, but I just noticed if I do not manually load it, then it will only put players from 80-92 in there. I do not mind playing around with it and finding a new line up that performs, however, I believe the big issue is most people won't do that and it will become a dead tournament just sitting there waiting to fill

You need to make sure you have updated to the new patch, or else the roster restrictions will not be applied properly.

Alright, love the new payouts for 32-team tourneys!

Very nice to see that all the 32-team b07 tourneys pay 5/3/1 instead of 4/2/1 previously (except for bronze-1375 tourneys, which were somewhat wierdly higher paying 6/3/1 before).

Thank-you!

The changes to the quick bo3s make no sense whatsoever. Why take one of the best tournament formats, the one that provides the most reliable income streams to free-to-play players, and nuke it to all hell?

I had a competitive gold team. Maybe five of the players on that roster now qualify for gold bo3s. Since I don't have the extensive card base that many whales/people who grinded FotF do, I would have to go out and spend around 100k in order to field a team solely for bo3s-- it won't be viable in any of the dailies, weeklies, or PTCS.

I have no clue what possessed the PT team to take one of the fastest-filling formats and replace it with something so ridiculously niche. New tournaments should be additive, not in place of existing, highly successful formats. This thoroughly disgusts me.

I agree Catchthedamnball. Due my current economic state I have to play for free. Those tournaments help me build a pretty good pt team. I have battled your Seattle Freeze team plenty in gold tournaments, I am the Las Vegas Stars.
