Fictional League with only Black American players...is it possible?
Would like to give this 21st century Negro league idea I have in my head set up.

to create a fictional league - you'd need to create a new league (you can use the game engine that adds minors to create a minor league. Give the league a name you want. Then you can change the rating to 10 (i think that ML level in the game). you also need to be certain the new league is not affiliated to MLB or anything else. From there you need to create players - but you'll still need to edit them all manually i think, to get them to be Negro. i do wish the player creation tool had that feature, but it doesn't as of now. That would be a two step operation, you'd need to create the player and then go to each profile and edit race there.
After the league is created, make certain to create a schedule before you advance!! If you want to mix in historical players, you'd have manually import those. that would involve some research (Seamheads.com is a great source for the historic Negro Leagues). As far as modern Negro players, i'm not aware of a specific source that would guide you. Baseball reference, with a lot of research) is the best i could think of. But that may not be at all what you want ... if you want eventually want your new League it to compete against ML down the line, create an Association (that's under GAME functions on the home screen i think.) and then one of the screens allows you to make a playoff. If that's not in your design ... sorry for rambling. good luck. sounds like an interesting project. hope this helps a bit without confusing things more than necessary. i'm not at my game computer, so this is written from an old and fogging memory - maybe i didn't misremember or forget too many essential steps .. ....

hmm. hadn't thought of that aspect of the color line going the other way. i should have tested my theory before typing it - but i wasn't at the game computer, and i'm pretty certain there were some holes in the way i wrote it. only other way i could think of would be to take the old .csv file that Spritze sent to someone a few years back (probably still somewhere in 20 boards?) - that included all the Negro League players in the game, and import just those players into a fictional world you could control, and each year (via text file import) just have those players in the game. Still not certain the game wouldn't start injecting fictional player at some point though. Anyway - thanks for looking at this and discovering flaws in my original idea. i should have done better.

I should also note that each year you will have to manually edit ethnicity because the game does not understand why you are doing what you are doing. It is simply creating a seperate list for each league. That was something mitchkenn mentioned that was totally on point.

wow. great write up. that's a bit along the lines of the game, when Negro Leagues are first introduced (1920), with color line checked, the Negro League develops it's own free agent pool, and it's own draft pool. i didn't recall that until i read your post. Hope the OP appreciates your work!
