One feature I would love to see added is the CHL has a rule to roster two 16 year old players each year and a maximum of four dressedj.

The game doesn't have that rule so in the dynasties a lot of 1st round and 2nd rounders get signed and cut and if they had the 2 minimum rule that would probably avoid that.

LOVED this years game i'm in the year 2031 in my dynasty. only big flaws are the early round picks getting signed and cut alot and the draft needs a team will draft a goalie 10 rounds in a row sometimes.

Other than that its perfect. This years edition was awesome.

I would love to see improved player search feature, like there is in OOTP. One specific use case: I often find myself trying to find a specific player to fill a team need, say a right-shooting defenseman to play on the second pairing and bring strong marks in defensive read and positioning. It can get tricky to find players without doing a roundabout search through the stats page. If there is a way to do this that I'm not aware of, I would love to hear that too!

Something I'd like to see, and this isn't likely to be possible in 7, but hopefully down the road sometime, but really put more into the rivalry system, which would include another feature, media. The ability to be able to interact with the local/national/international media would take this game to a whole other level. As a coach, you could talk about tactics your team employs, or not. You could talk about the last game / next game, or a rivalry coming up, and yes, with the ability to take a few jabs at the other team(s). As a GM (my preferred way to play), you can discuss plans for signings/trades, discuss contracts, and the future of the team. The ability to take jabs at other teams could be included, but not necessary. I feel like this could take the game to a whole new level, and keep people like me glued to it. As far as the rivalry system, the games are built up more, there's more aggression, and as a GM, trading with a rival is much more difficult.

On the roster page where you can check out the stats I'd like to see splits (road vs home) (month to month). That would be grand.

Predsboy18, good post, would certainly add another dimension to the games immersion factor. If I may piggy-back on your suggestion, I would also like to see the G.M. and Coach be given a certain amount of 'influence' points at the start of each season, commiserate with the personal profile you have them set up for at the games start.

They can then use these points at any time throughout the season, at what they feel are critical junctures, to help influence events, player relations, morale issues, game / practice performance situations, contract negations, trade discussions, press relations etc. you get the point.

As these influence points are finite (or alternately could be somewhat adjusted by game performance, results or other criteria during the year, the point being they are to be used judiciously), then their application to influence a situation during the season also carries a strategic / tactical element.

As one of the earlier posts suggests, media engagement and interaction can be improved massively to make it more realistic.

Even more lines to freshen up the wording, NHL insiders etc.

I've really enjoyed the ability to modify the NHL in historical mode.

Suggestions to add to this experience:

The ability to turn on and off other pro leagues completely - ie PCHL and WHA. When we start in 1917 there is no way to completely turn off PCHL. You can terminate a few teams and minimize their budget so they can't sign players but not much more.

The ability to port whole teams and rosters from one league to another. I'd love to start in the 70's and do a different merger of the WHA and NHL. Bringing in Cincinnati and Houston with the original four or any other weird combination. Maybe I want to bring in the entire Winnipeg team at their peak? Or Houston with the Howe's Or Indy with Gretzky? Or Cincy with Messier? It's possible now, but takes a lot of manual work.

Currently you can only go to a large number of teams (say 48) with four divisions. ANy you're limited to 16 playoff teams. Hopefully next version will allow more divisions at large sizes. ANd hopefully the current playoff set-up of 24 teams or more can be ported to the game next year.

a few suggestions of my own (based on my time as a 32 team online league comish)

Staff signing. I would LOVE to see staff signing be in the control of the player. so I dont have to sign 32 coaches every sim... in my mind it would work the same way as FA players.

AI Solving Injuries during sim - allow the lineups feature to work with GM controlled tactics in online leagues. I hate having to stop the sim because someone's 4th line winger got hurt.

KHL contract expiration - having to edit players because KHL teams can sign extensions before an NHL team is allowed to even talk to them is annoying... can we do something to make it more friendly?

GM trades - allow GMs to make their own trades. i shouldn't have to do it for them

GMs ask players for NTC/NMC Lists - i would like it if GMs could get the list of teams that NTC/NMC players will go to.

contract negotiations fixes - we have seen quite a few bugs where contracts aren't submitted/handled after export.

interactive draft - this is a pipe dream, but id love some sort of interactive draft feature. where teams could submit their picks via import/export.

data import - it would be great to be able to create something like stats+ for FHM...however to do that, the data needs to be readable and writable. we can export data but we cant import it.

track ROW - just a nice to have....add ROW to the stats screens.

Stored Lines - this shouldn't be handled via a file (at least for online leagues) this should be attached to the export... I believe OOTP allows you to export tactics and lineups.

Auto Import sim files - instead of me having to zip up my game file and upload it somewhere...so that the GMs can download/unzip it... id love to see what OOTP has which is an import latest file button.

Budget control - allow GMs to manage their budget distribution. often times we see budget strapped teams use so much of their money on staff...and its just left on the table. i would like to see owners provide a total number, and give GMs the ability to see the % of that which is used on Players & how much is used on Staff - this could be a July 1st action.

Goalie Starts - i would love for GMs to be able to set who starts what game in the calendar view - what this solves is that goalie start settings are...sometimes inconsistent (who is considered "the starter" by the AI etc.)

AHL / ECHL staff control - I would never expect a NHL GM / HC to be able to dictate the lines of an AHL/ECHL club... but they should absolutely be able to hire/fire the staff just like in OOTP.

Staff Limits - you shouldn't be able to hire 20 coaches for a team. there should be a sane limit to coaches. - maybe this is a league / Comish control setting ?

there is a strange bug where when you are forced to put a guy in mid sim because of injury...he will be auto-scratched the next day, which will give you the "scratched player in lineup" error. id love to see that fixed.

have something similar to the quickstart codes that OOTP has

Trade AI is as many said disapointing. Teams have a mindset (win now, rebuild, balanced etc.) but when comes to trade they rarely seems to follow their own plan. I wish to see rebuild them sell veterans and go for prospects and picks and the other way around for cup contenders. Most trade happening in game are just one vs one (sometimes same position) and its kinda boring and if the trade does'nt make a minimum of sense is not immersive. I play in an online league to get that immersion but they are slow paced so my main wish is a major tweak in that aspect of the game. But I guess its really hard to put in place because i'm sure you guys dev are working on it every year

Other thing I saw in comments is the AI goalie pick fr starter. It has been improved but 3.5 to 5 star goalie should not lose their job to 2 star goalies. Seems like hotness is the only thing some teams consider. Could be normal on teams that have two similar goalie but else is ''WTF''.

Those are my main concerns. Its a great game overall

At this point in time, my only suggestion is, how about throwing us a bone and provide us with some update on where FHM7 stands and maybe even some hints about its planned feature set. Barring that, then how about a sniff at what its targeted ETA is?

A few things that I'd love to see implemented in the game are:

- Improved Facegen textures (more realism)

- Scouts or Team Personnel "suggesting" when a prospect is ready to be brought up from the farm & what league he would best benefit into furthering the players development AHL or ECHL duties

- Player fighting rating needs a drastic revamp, the ability rating / willingness doesn't make sense in its current state. A custom fighting frequency dial would be awesome at this point... allow people to finally customize the frequency themselves after several versions.

- Online request - During offseason before July 1st (Free Agency) and after June 23rd (Entry Draft), please allow teams to secure contracts to prospects allowing GM's to go over the max 50 contract limit, but NOT
exceeding the upcoming expiring contracts. So for example.. Calgary Flames have 50 contracts but can't offer any contracts to expiring rights to prospects as they're maxed out. They have 10 upcoming players who's contracts fall of the books, allowing 10 expiring prospect rights to be added if necessary. ( I hope the heck that makes sense to you devs lol)

Before this happens, the "mindset" setting itself that teams are in needs to be fixed. There is a team in my fictional league that just won their third straight championship and they currently have a "rebuild" focus. Not exactly a realistic focus for a team that just won three straight titles. And also there doesn't appear to be a way to manually change the team focus like you can in OOTP. So actually I'm kind of happy that teams don't behave according to their "mindset."

If I may add to this, I have one quick request. I play a no-OT league during the regular season. The standings still have a OT column, but do not show ties. I have to look over to the home and away records to see ties. I would love to see a tie column in the normal standings view.

Hi. If I just could expand this request.

• It would be great, if a player (at least in commissioner mode) would be able to change stats columns for teams: for example I would prefer to alter NHL rules so that W/WO/WSO are three, two, and one point worth respectively. But I see only W/WO/L, which are completely not informative in this case.

• Could we possibly get (back?) an opportunity to make a six-points-for-win ruleset, since there are seven different outcomes a game could end (W, WO, WSO, T, LSO, LO, L)?

• When ruleset is edited it is not entirely clear, if a division leader would be placed higher like in 1998/99 – 2012/13 seasons. Unfortunately there are no provided explanations for any play-off format.
Or/And maybe make a "tick" to place a division leader higher?

Speaking of AI management styles:
11 goalies out of 41 contracts
Not the first time I saw clogged position, but never anything this bad. Algorithm to fix this should be pretty simple:
1) 2 feeder team is the max(?). So 6 should be more than enough, giving starter + backup for all teams. Especially when we have 50 contracts, 6 positions and Goalies use rotation of 2.
2) So anything after 6 is dead weight, AI should avoid considering goalies as an asset after that. Only as an upgrade.
3) If AI gets lots of goalies somehow, weakest Goalies should be put on trading block. This team had only one of them listed. Same could be applied to other positions. 6G+18D+26F should be good blueprint. Defenders have higher skill floor for NHL roster(especially top 4 defs), while you can add Forwards through 4th line/PP time. Plus Forwards can play multiple positions.
It's not that crucial, because most of them will be gone at the end of the season and CAP is occupied by big contracts. But would be nice to have preventive measures, because AI just can't solve it right now. Defs and Forwards ability to play multiple positions can screw with suggested logic, but Goalie position overload can definitely be dealt with.
