That sucked

Losing a no hitter with a home run.

It's sure better than losing a no hitter on a bloop single with two outs in the ninth.....two starts in a row.
Yours truly,

Yeah
There'd be some loss of sleep, I'd imagine

But, not getting a no-hitter because your team didn't *hit* enough
(No-hitters are team accomplishments. Not only does your defense have to help you, so does your offense. A pitcher, literally, can't pitch a no-hitter without help from the offense)

Lots of other stuff going on in that game.
Mize 3 home runs, including his 300th

Agreed. I wasn't really responding to the video but the OP. Should have made that clearer.

Unfortunately, reality is a no hitter is awarded to the pitcher. Maybe someday CB, someday.

Funny thing is if it ended up being a no hitter the headline would still only mention Mize's accomplishment.

Not true. Not in the National League, at least. The pitcher could be striking everyone out and then he hits a couple of home runs himself. Probable? Nope. Not at all. Possible? Yup.

This sucks too. San Antonio needed one win to clinch a wild card spot. Last day of the regular season. Game called due to inclement weather after 8 innings.

Then they lost the one-game tiebreaker. Season over. Not only that but SA had to watch an opposing player celebrate HR #500 on their home turf.

Ken Brett (HOF'er George's brother) accomplished this feat if memory serves me correctly.

Fair enough

When the pitcher, alone, is responsible for all 27 defensive outs (meaning the catcher didn't catch a strike out) and the pitcher is responsible for all the runs (meaning the pitcher didn't advance on any other hitter's batted ball) then a no-hitter would be an individual acheivement.

Andy Hawkins did it with no help from anybody.

And yes I know MLB tries to own what an "official" no-hitter is and they say this doesn't count, but they're full of crap. Dude pitched a game and nobody got a hit. Can't stop me from correctly calling that a no-hitter.

I took over the Seattle Pilots for the 1969 season, we lost 134 games but started to play better in 1970 ...

And then that happened

Bobby Higgenson says hello (to Roy Halladay). Did it with 2 outs in the 9th. In Roys 2nd career start no less...
