Tired of having runners thrown out stealing 3rd!

For my players who are true baserunners, I have their steals set very high. But now I see too many being thrown out try to steal 3rd, when I would never do that and Im not wanting them to.

So my only solution is to have them not steal at all, correct? There is nothing that designates trying to steal 2nd over 3rd. Or even home I guess.

If you're giving the green light to truly elite basestealers (Rickey, Ichiro, Jackie, etc.) then they should have an SB% above 66, the generally recognized break-even threshold for stealing bases. It sucks when they get thrown out at third, but it's likely that the times they steal 2B safely create more runs than the times that they get erased at 3B (or 2B).

If the players in question are getting thrown out a fair amount in general, I would suggest adjusting their strategy sliders down accordingly.

Cranking that slider to the max is just asking for this kind of result. Elite ability doesn't mean it's OK to allow reckless attempts. Try setting the slider to the midpoint or further to the left.

So what I get frustrated about is when they steal third with two out, which is practically worthless (a fast runner will score on the great majority of singles from 2B). The other thing I get frustrated with is when they steal at all in the ninth inning when behind by multiple runs.

I know that, in the second case, you can set strategies to modify this. However, that assumes you haven't set individual strategires. If you have runners with higher SPE than STE, they will try to steal too many times. The only way to change this is to set individual strategies.
