1937 New York Yankees w/ Red Ruffing Missing

I just started a single-season play as the General Manager/Manager of the 1937 New York Yankees. After G1, I went into "GM and Manager Actions" to make sure there was a five-man starting pitcher rotation. Slot 3 was empty. I moved Johnny Broaca from the Bullpen into that slot. Never gave it another thought.

Yesterday I was looking at my printouts from retrosheet dot org to see which bullpen pitchers had starts in that season. Then I saw the reason for the hole in Slot 3: No Red Ruffing!

1) Checked my Roster Total: 24/25.
2) Checked "Manage Team Roster": The only two available players are Joe Vance and Jack Saltzgaver.
3) Checked an obvious possibility, the Boston Red Sox roster: not there
4) Checked the retrosheet dot org for transactions: none involving Ruffing.

Thus far, they're 8-1 but this definitely will bite me later in the season. I would consider this a major error with a capital "E".
