Proposed NCAA-style league
OK so I am in the process of putting together my next OOTP (ad)venture, an NCAA-style college league the scope of which is far beyond anything I've ever attempted before.
I have the structure all sorted and am currently putting together all of the uniforms and caps I can find on the mods forum. I am about 3/4 through this monumental task (just saving them to my directory, I still have to add them all to their respective teams once the league is set up!). Thanks to the hard work and dedication of a few individuals, the uniform and logo coverage is comprehensive. Ballparks, on the other hand, are few and far between. The purpose of this thread is to pick the brains of any of you who have tried this sort of league before to try and benefit from your experiences in this regard. The basic premise is as follows: The main league - which I am calling the ACAA - will consist of 2 sub-leagues ("Associations") each with 10 divisions ("Conferences") containing 14 teams per for a total of 280 teams. It will be set as a COL level league with a reputation of 5. My intention is to be the Manager and GM of one of these teams. The rosters would be populated via an Inaugural Draft and kept that way via an annual "Free Agent" Draft held on January 1st of each year. I'll be setting the player creation age limits to 17/18 and the max age of any player on the roster to 22. The schedule for this league would be 90 games beginning on 1 March or thereabouts each year with an All-Star break in the middle. Each team would play 4 games (2H/2A) against each of the other teams in their conference and 38 games in 2-game series v 19 other teams within their sub-league, or perhaps against 38 different teams in single-game series--I haven't quite decided on this yet and it will greatly revolve around the ability of scheduling mods to accommodate. I plan to affiliate this to a fictional parent league set up as per the current MLB structure, along with AAA, A, and Rookie MiLB teams, into which the COL league will feed players via an annual Rookie Draft to be held on August 15. Both the ACAA and MLB will be a mixture of real and fictional players. Trading will be disabled. Player Dev set to 1.250 / ageing set to 1.000 for both batters and pitchers. Injuries will I think be set to NORMAL or perhaps LOW, fatigue HIGH. Personality and morale ON. Scouting 100%. Personality and Morale ON. Coaching ON. Owner goals OFF. Financials OFF. DH ON. Rosters 35 with 25 Active and a reserve (I may change this to 40 if 35 proves too few). International players allowed in the Draft but no FA. Playoffs will be a seeded knockout with Rounds 1 thru 3 being best of 3, Round 4 ("Divisional Championship") best of 5 and the CWS being best of 7. I'm also contemplating having a full knockout tourney in the offseason. At this point I only have two specific questions:
Outside of that, does anyone see any potential problems with my setup or any changes they suggest I make? Thanks in advance. Last edited by luckymann; 08-27-2020 at 03:19 AM. |

I don't have any insight other than I would like you to report back on this. This sounds super interesting!

I'm interested in this as well! I just created a new college-related thread you may be able to help with ... I have never messed with modifiers before. If I want to have realistic statistics comparable to the Cape Cod Baseball League, how would I go about adjusting the modifiers?
