Triple Play
I saw Bryant was involved in a triple play the other day. It reminded me of the TWO triple plays I was involved with, as a kid.
These are pretty amusing..bear with me. First one, I was playing third, runners at first and third, no out. Obviously. Line drive, over the 3rd base bag..I make a Brooks Robinson play, caught it, and landed on the bag. Outs one and two. Walking the ball back to the mound, the runner on first (he had tagged) took off for second. I looked at him like he was an idiot, as I was a LOT closer to second than he was, and ran over and tagged him out. Unassisted triple play. Second one...I was 9, and playing first base. My coach had JUST told my dad that he liked my hustle, just like that Reds rookie, Pete Rose. (I'm old). Bases loaded, and a VERY high popup on the infield. Infield fly, batter is out. But...all THREE runners took off. It was a three ring circus. What the hell? I caught the ball, stepped on first, and looked for someone to throw the ball to. My third baseman, and best friend Teddy, was waving his arms. I reared back and threw it about ten feet over his head. It rattled down the left field line for awhile, and our left fielder tossed it back to the third baseman, for the third out. Your basic 3-7-5 triple play. Probably the only one in the history of baseball. |

Great story.
One thing though...Bryant trapped the line drive. The play was immune to challenge/replay rule. Just sayin...they got away with one. ![]() |

Also...I have shaken the hands of TWO Presidents, AND have been interrogated by the KGB. Add in a tornado warning, that in the opinion of a four star general, saved hundreds of lives. I have done a lot of stuff. Interesting stuff. Add in catching a 70 pound King Salmon. |
