To activate a player...

I have 2B Kieboom on my SD roster. I play as GM/manager of this team. He played in the first 78 games of my season before being significantly injured.
My team news says he has to be activated.
I have 37/38 on my active roster.
So I click on "actions" then activate from IL.
I get......player is not on secondary roster. Can't be activated.

So....where do I put him ?

On the secondary roster

Then you can put him on the active roster

Also, I think if you drag him directly to the active roster it will automatically add him to the secondary roster

If you don't want him on the active roster, drag him to one of your minor league teams

On your expanded roster how many slots do you have open?

The expanded roster doesnt always equal the active roster and would need to clear space on the expanded roster.

I am in December of the 2022 season. I have 37/38 on active roster.

The game usually will not let you activate him because your 40 man roster is full. You need to remove someone from the 40 man roster, if so.

Then went to ROSTERS AND TRANSACTIONS
INJURTY LIST

The 'Active' Roster is not important. The 40-man roster is what is full, I imagine, and space needs to be made there.

Is he listed in the list on the right of this screen (Team, Rosters & Transactions, highlighted list- 40-man Roster)?
The 40-man roster is also referred to as the expanded roster or the secondary roster.

If he isn't on here you should be able to add him but only if there is an empty spot in this roster. Almost always you will have more players on your 40-man roster than on your active roster, so it is very likely you need to remove someone from this roster to re-activate him to the secondary roster.
Or as Cbeisbol said, you could also send him to a minor league team in your system but it sounds like if you are getting this message he is likely out of minor league options so that might not be an ideal solution as it would require putting him on waivers to designate him for assignment.

You cannot option a player to the minors who is not on the 40 man roster. If the player was on the 60 day injured list, then he had to have been on the 40 man roster before. He can only be sent to the minors after clearing waivers, without putting him on the 40 man roster. If he has options available, you can only send him to the minors without waivers by first placing him on the 40 man roster.

Thanks to all.
After trying to move Kieboom onto the 40 man roster unsuccessfully I went back to my teams page and had the AI do it.
I can now advance my team on a weekly basis.
