Quirky Things You Do in Your Saves?

I was thinking about this in terms of drafting, but feel free to add whatever you want. It is fun to see how others play the game.

Once the best prospects have been drafted, do you have to grab the tallest? Shortest? One from or close to your hometown? Player from your alma mater? Best name?

Whatever you think is quirky that you do...

Rounds 35 to 40 in my drafts. I look for players from my highschools conference, home town area or the area i live now as a quirk.

I do the exact same thing. Draft anyone that went to my HS/College and anyone from my hometown or near my hometown. Then when they mostly always suck, I still can't cut them when they're 27 and struggling in A ball.

I havd trouble getting rid of any of my draftees it seems. Add a sentimental reason for drafting them beyond stats or scout ratings in the first place, and it is even harder!

As to drafting, in the late rounds I take the fastest/best base stealers and the highest-rated fielders on the off chance they might turn into decent hitters. They don't but I love the old-fashioned banjo-hitting CF/SS!

I always, always change the nationalities in the draft and always always set the "random origin" to zero. Even though it would likely produce the same results. But I get very OCD about setting different countries at .5% chance, giving random countries I've visited (Slovenia, Indonesia, etc) some representation, boosting random countries' numbers (Panama, Italy, Netherlands), and putting more guys from American Samoa and Guam into the US draft pool.

Love the last bit and will borrow it to some effect (though maybe not quite to your level). I always like having a truly worldwide approach to my sporting games!
