2020 Opening Day Rosters now available

I am releasing for public use my opening day roster set.

This is a project I do yearly for my dad. He likes to replay the season using the current version of OOTP using real lineups, rosters and transactions as they occur during the season.

I know there probably very few who play this way, but feel free to make any changes to the rosters as you like.

Here is what you will find in this set
  • Accurate 30-man Opening Day rosters as of 7/23
  • Accurate 40-man Rosters
  • Injuries/Suspensions/Rainouts turned off
  • scouting/personalities turned off
  • commissioner mode on and no AI control of any team
  • rotations/bullpens/lineups set as per fangraphs-rosterresource

Download roster set here

What next?

Thank you for your work. How do you use the roster set? How do you get it into the game on Mac Air?

I can't say for sure where this would go on a mac, as I have no experience with them. In PC or Steam versions by default it would go in your saved games folder under

Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 21\saved_games

You just unzip the file into that folder and run the game and load up the league.

Thanks for doing this! Is it possible you could simply export the rosters as a text file so I (we) could download that? I think there is an option to do that. When I download your entire league the managers of all the teams are set to unemployed. I'd like to take control of a team by creating my own new league, and then have the rest of the teams with the accurate real life managers while importing your rosters. Again, thanks for all your great work!

Unfortunately many things such as disabled lists, rotations, lineups do not carry over when you re-import the rosters from the text file. Also if you do not keep complete control over the league the rosters will immediately be wrecked by the AI.

You can always make some copies of the league and experiment with different options to try to get something similar to what you are looking for.

So everyday, do you and your Dad update the ACTUAL injuries, transactions, ect as they happen in real life with this league in OOTP? Pretty cool! Does he play out EVERY game in the league?

Also, is there a way to get the correct draft picks to their right teams with this save?

Thanks for sharing!

Once I provide him with the first roster he updates the transactions every single day and plays out every game with the correct starting lineups. It usually takes him to the end of January or sometimes longer to complete the season. He has been doing this for years with OOTP, prior to that he used Tony LaRussa baseball and before that an old dos game Major League Manager. He likes to compare the standings and such at the end of the season and see how close or far away things are.

Which draft picks are you not seeing on the correct teams? There were a couple that just officially signed after opening day but I think everyone else should be there.

I do the same thing as your Dad.......in this set up is the new 16 team playoff format used? Or will you reissue an updated roster set?

Thanks for the great work !!

Can’t promise an update but if I get a chance this weekend I might rebuild it. If I do I will update the blue jays home schedule as well to reflect correct stadium.

and no this was made prior to the patch that added the 16 team playoff format

I am playing out every game like your Dad and man...it's fun. Real line ups, with real rosters....I am concerned how hooked I am.

Does your Dad play EVERY game and do the WHOLE season? Even with a 60 game season, I could see how this could take a while...

Yep he plays every single game. It doesn’t take long for him to get behind he usually will finish the season in January sometimes a little later. Only remember a couple of times in the last 20+ years that he didn’t complete the season.

What does your Dad do if Rain outs happen? (Or in this case this year, if a game a cancelled). Does OOTP let you cancel and reschedule games?

Yes, go to edit league schedule and delete the game then add it on the appropriate date.

This is great thank you for posting it!
I love to do what your Dad does but I let the game sim all the other games besides the team I am managing.

Sounds like your Dad is one true baseball fan. That is awesome!
