Still can't save the game.
I have had OOTP since 2006 and my current data it game year 2027. I have only had one problem that was my problem by incorrectly editing the schedule. My current issue is that my game can't save.
DATABASE: save_database- could not save database files OOTP tries to roll back the transaction OOTP successfully restoted the database files. Your database is NOT saved yet. Just started about two weeks ago. I just reinstalled the game, played two games just fine and now I can't save again. There are a few others that are having the issue. So far all of the tech support has either given me other errors or just has not worked. This is very disappointing, because THIS IS THE BEST BASEBALL GAME for my money. Need some help! |

We aren't likely going to have anything more for you that we were able to suggest in the last thread, unfortunately. As I mentioned there, it's really just a matter of elimination to figure out on your system what is preventing the game from saving to the saved games directory.
Just to clarify again, does this happen to every game you start or is it happening to one specific save? I do have one other potential troubleshooting idea. If you go to settings > troubleshooting > and then click the option to 'open folder containing saved games', the folder with your saves will open. First create a new folder there called My League Whatver.lg Name it what you like, just make sure it ends in .lg Then go to the folder of the save where you're having trouble. Copy all the files from that folder that end in .dat over to the new folder you just created. Then go back into the game and go to 'load game' and try loading the new league you just created. Then try saving that. Does it save now or do you get the same message as before?

Was just doing some more research on this and another possible source of the issue is the Windows Defender real time protection feature. So make sure to turn that off as well.

I have created three different .lg files/games. All three will not save. Not even when I turned off Windows defender. What puzzles me is why all of a sudden. I can't find anything that has changed on my system around the time this started happening. (7/15/2020) My file is over 20GB, but I have almost 400GB of free space. I am open to other suggestions.

Also having this exact same issue. Tried the troubleshoot and it did not work for me, either.

There are some good troubleshooting steps here for dealing with Windows folder access issues that might help.
Bottom line, if the game is not saving, the issue is with the permissions on your system not being set properly. It seems from what we've seen from folks having this issue, that potentially something in the last Windows update may have set stricter folder access in some situations and be causing this to happen. Any kind of controlled folder access, either through a Windows feature like User Account Control or Windows Defender or a third-party program like an anti-virus/firewall needs to either have any controlled folder access features turned off, or OOTP (and any OOTP related folders, especially the saves folder which is typically in 'My Documents') needs to be added to their exceptions/whitelist to ensure that your system is actually allowing OOTP to write to disk and to save when needed.

There might be something to the last windows update, however, FYI despite the hassle, I reinstalled windows 10 and now everything is fine in my OOTP world. Knock on wood.

Can the OP make a backup? By definition that is a save albeit in a slightly different form. Can that backup be restored using a different name as required then can it be saved under that name.
Just a thought.
