Minor League Pitching Staff Question

Minor League Team: Visalia Rawhide A+
Pitching Staff: 13 (5 Starters, 5 Relievers, 3 Closers)

Of these 13 pitchers all of them have their Expected Role populated with: "No expectation".

All of them have their Role on Team as "Very Unhappy". In the manual linked here: https://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com...=player_morale

Quote:
Role on Team How the player feels about his role on the team. In OOTP, each player has an 'expected role' on the team. Some pitchers might expect to be starters, others members of the bullpen. Position players might expect a spot in the middle of the lineup, and so forth. This expected role is displayed in the Morale Details section of the Player Profile page. The Role on Team morale factor is based on this expected role. Players whose expected roles are not being met are likely to be unhappy.

If each player does have an expected role, is it the developers intention then for us to guess or move the pitchers around different roles until we hopefully see that morale trait improve?

You can be almost 100% certain it is because they are in the minors.

My example is for a Single A team full of 18-20 year olds. Anyone else have any idea?

Are the scouts saying they should be promoted but they aren't doing well? It could be they think they should be at a higher level. I have notice a morale drop on demotion.

I went into god mode to look at an angry reliever at A level. This is what I found. He was really unhappy (-500 max level) with his current performance. Even bigger was the -1150 for role on team despite saying no expectation. While the game projects him as bullpen only and emergency starter later on he has 60/80 and 3 pitches one not so good but 3 projecting to be decent but not terrible for low A ball. So my guess is he thinks he should be starting. It is a SWAG but I think it could be a factor. This might be because of start based on potential vs. current stats. While the game still projects him as bullpen for low A I think given the ratings he could be a starter at that level not a necessarily good one at low A but could do it. Your relievers may see themselves as starters. It is hard to really see the factors without being in commis and looking at the hidden ratings. So it is just a guess. His performance was a lot smaller negative. Still looking at the editor it looks like role on team is the biggest influencer of morale.

Looking a little deeper he has 2 pitches with a potential of 60 if the potential on the third pitch at 40 increases he might make a borderline starter. I would consider locking him in at starter if I have filler scrubs starting now. Winning a low A is nice but far from a requirement. Still he projects to have a shot at MLB reliever but unless that third pitch at 40 gets better probably not a starter. I don't mind emergency starters starting below AAA. I would 5 guys who can start at AAA if possible to provide cover and have still have a rotation at that level. Below that it isn't as important but 2 or 3 to take the place of 4A players who I lose or promote is nice at AA.

You could forcing try them to be a starter at the level they are at if it is a similar potential emergency starter throw mid or long relief or if possible switch him for a player that is borderline ready for the level and see if the AI starts him at a lower level. I often use my non-prospects as filler for injuries but I might consider it for situations like this.

On another note the game doesn't project him as a prospect at all since it is basing on bullpen/emergency starter but his stuff is probably good enough for a reliever at the MLB level based on 2 pitches if develops them both to 60. His movement and control potential are atrocious though so the 20 out of 80 potential may be right. I really didn't look at his real potential in the editor at first. When I look at the raw numbers in the editor he has no rating but a potential at a 4th pitch. His movement and control probably still make him a career minor leaguer filler player though.

Another interesting fact is he has a positive number for transactions and I moved him down from high A where I was using him as a filler so he was happy with being demoted to a level he was better matched at but he looks overmatched at low A by his very limited stats and his scouting ratings despite my scout not saying he needs to go to rookie. I am not playing with short A. I implemented the destruction of short A and shorter draft but put pro service time up to 3 years (4 max) for rookie. I haven't implemented the UDFA league proposal. I don't see a way to do this in the current structure to where you can keep drafted players out.

Then again maybe it is because Joe Exotic is after him because of his last name.
