Disabling Amateur Draft Question
Im starting a new Franchise in 1977 and want players to be drafted by the team that actually drafted them. If I disable the Amateur draft, will this occur? I know I can setup "historical transactions" but I just want this (draft) option.
I know in the Hockey game you can skip the draft and players appear on teams that actually drafted them. Thanks |

I asked this in the Historical forum and the response was "Disable draft and choose assign rookies to historical teams."

This will not assign players to the teams that drafted them, players will be assigned to the team that they made their Major League Debut with. If they were traded prior to making their Major league Debut this would be an issue... though for the vast majority of players you won't notice a difference.
You can turn on Use real Minor Leagues. I tried this for a bit, but their were aspects I considered game breaking so I stopped (if a Minor League Team went away in say 1978, all players on that team were released... which blew if they were yours). It may be that this will work for assigning based on what Minor League team they debuted with... but I couldn't say for sure. Shouldn't be too hard to test with a player who was traded prior to making their MLB debut.
