As sad as it is that it's likely there will soon be a permanent universal DH in real life, I don't think we ever have to worry that it will ever be unable to be turned off in OOTP, given that OOTP includes historic simulations, or just in fictional leagues the chance to play under past seasons' conditions, including rules.
So OOTP may be the only place where real baseball rather than DH-ball exists in 2020 and, sadly, 2022 and after (I guess 2021 will be DH-free in the NL), but I think we can count on always being able to turn it off in OOTP, at least. We can even use the reserve clause, etc., things that have been gone a lot longer than real baseball will have been. |
