The 97 looks better to me. What do you like better about the 98?

Sisler 98 is a great card for me. But, I do note the Sisler 97 was in some leader categories on the Perfect League, which also suggest he is also very good.

In a couple leagues i have been in the 98 seems to get better stats. Not that i am a expert but the cards look pretty close to me

I went with Sisler 97 when faced with that choice.

If you are using him purely as a DH, I prefer the 98 version due to the better baserunning and slightly better gap rating. The 97 is a better defender though, but still not great at it.
Both are great cards though!

I couldn’t get my 97 Sisler to play third, said invalid position. Any way to force this?
And I also opted for the 97.

Why would you want to play Sisler at third base? He throws left-handed.

so, just because i was curious, i opened up the batter spreadsheet just to see how many such cards there might be. if it's correct/complete, roger connor is the only card in the game that throws lefty and has a 3b rating. 79 hal chase (also a natural 1b) is the only lefty thrower with 2b rating (2, lol). there are no lefty throwers with SS rating. |

That is because Roger Connor actually played over 100 games at 3B. In the 1800s that was not as big a thing. It became more of an issue in the 1900s. As a result, in the 1800s, you occasionally find a lefty that played some third in his career. Same with catchers. In the 1800s it was not as big a thing, but still not common, and you had some lefty catchers. Tenney started his career as a catcher, and Jack Clements caught over 1000 games in the 1800s.

I think this topic was brought up on one of the Discord channels recently and the 98 card was soundly recommended over the 97

I like the 97 Sisler, and that has nothing to do, whatsoever, with that the historical diamond fairy accidentally let one slip into one of my packs today. He's having a 3 way with Todd Helton and Jeff Bagwell to see if they stabilize my team in the 2nd WC spot.

98 Sisler for me
![]() only had a partial season of the 97 on my other team ![]() i believe the 100 baserunning of the 98 vs the 84 baserunning of the 97 makes a huge difference in extra base hits, and the 98 can be pencilled in as a 30/30 guy every year.

The 98 Sisler has 84 speed vs. 91 for the 97, so some of those additional baserunning XBH are taken away by slower speed. I doubt that it results in a "huge" difference in an equal league/park environment. |
