Which version should I buy?

Should I buy direct from OOTP or from Steam?

Will one prove to be easier to use mods with, or is there no difference in the two versions?

I have always purchased from OOTP direct, until this year. My experience has been the mods are far easier to use with Steam. I also like having the game on both my laptop and desktop.
