Suggestion - Diagnosis Pending Info

Quick thought that came to mind that I'd love to see in an upcoming patch or next year's version of the game.

When a player is injured with the dreaded "diagnosis pending," would it be possible for the game to at least list the body part that's injured? I had to hold my breath for three days when my star reliever was diagnosis pending, fearing an arm injury, when he suffered a sprained ankle and is only going to miss two weeks.

That seems realistic too. Trainers/doctors may not know the exact nature of the injury but at least know the area. And unless I'm missing it somewhere, the only way to find that out is through the PbP text if you're playing the game (which most of the time, people aren't).

Something like "Diagnosis Pending - right leg" would be helpful.

Agreed. Normally this means a lengthy absence, especially for a pitcher, but sometimes it doesn't and since it can take sometimes up to 3-4 game days to get the diagnosis, I typically put the pitcher in this situation on the IL before it comes in.

But I just ended up ILing a pitcher that turned out to be just fine as it was a non-arm injury. In these situations knowing the type of injury would help make immediate roster decisions.

Same here. Usually means a pretty bad injury but sometimes it isn't, like with my pitcher's ankle, and it's just nice to have that info while you wait for the full diagnosis.

Absolutely. Almost always in real life, when a player is injured and his diagnosis is pending, we at least have an idea of the body part, and maybe even the symptom... "He twisted his left knee..." "His right arm is hurting..." Something like that...

Agreed. This would be a good QOL change.

Anyone else like the idea? Would love for a mod to weigh in, see if that's possible for a future version of the game.

A bit of a cheat, I know, but if you go into the Editor for that player it will tell you what the injury is and how long he'll be out for, before it is revealed in the game.

Well, the cool thing about that is that it should make the "partial diagnosis" (that we would like to see) easier for the developers to implement...

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I'd rather play with delayed on certain injuries due to realism, but I've played with it 'off' for a good while now due to the frustrating vagueness. Reminds me of a fantastic quote from Questdog on his Portland Beavers' save, regarding why he turns them off:

Quote:
Delayed Injury Diagnosis is turned off. This also adds nothing to the experience. It could be interesting if at least SOME information was given to you after an injury and the duration was just left unsettled, but as it is, it is difficult to explain in a report of a game what happened to the player.

"What happened to Bubba?"
"He's hurt."
"What's hurt? His head? His toe? His arm? What?"
"I dunno; he's hurt."
"Did you ask Bubba what hurts?"
"Yeah."
"What did he say?"
"He dunno; he's hurt."

Also, even with this turned off, injury durations are not set in stone and players sometimes heal faster or have setbacks and take longer to return than at first reported or sometimes the return date is actually reported as "uncertain".
Makes me laugh every time.
