Scouting in 21
Can someone tell me why sometimes out of nowhere I suddenly drop to "low" or "average" scouting accuracy on players who have been on the team (and without a change in scouts). It is unbelievably frustrating as I task my scout and get to very high on my own players and then suddenly I deal with this....

The scouting is something I certainly wish there was more discussion about. It doesn't seem consistent in any way that makes sense at this point. Maybe its the small sample size I've used with it and haven't noticed patterns. But scouting requests don't seem to come back in any sort of regular amount per day or how quickly it takes to get them.
And the above is certainly something I haven't been able to figure out, why wouldn't my scout automatically keep tabs on our own guys to make sure they were up to snuff? Doesn't feel like that aspect should decline much over time, if at all. |

You’re on OSA. Look at the top right of your screen shot. I’ve done this a few times myself, not sure where it gets switched over.

I wish there was a legacy setting to turn off this change entirely. I see guys I request scouting reports for as having a higher scouted level, then to sometimes regress or simply disappear without any rhyme or reason. Additionally, I see tons of players being scouted that are not requests I am making, but likely causing delay in player scouting reports I am requesting. That is no good IMHO. The feature is cool in concept but just a pain to use so far. I do NOT find a place which shows simple view of reports requested & fulfilled with results - that would be intuitive.

I feel like, ESPECIALLY with major league level players, there's no logic behind the scout's accuracy dropping. Scouts all know who these players are, those on their own team and those on the 29 others. They don't just forget what tools they have and all of a sudden have a less accurate view point of them.

Scout accuracy dropping is a sign of old reports and it needs to be updated...
Manually assigned scouts are prioritized over auto scouting. Scouting budget and chief scout also have an effect on how often certain players are scouted. Last edited by SirMichaelJordan; 06-23-2020 at 03:57 PM. |

The problem with this is that, in real life, organizations don't use their scouting department to file regular reports on players within the organization. Field staff and player development staff file daily reports based on what happened that day which detail everything from what happened in the game and who did extra work early in the day to who has this or that nagging injury. So there are reports updated literally every day. OOTP should reflect that system by applying a small bump in scouting accuracy on a daily basis. That bump should be so small (microscopic, in fact) that it takes weeks or even months to see the accuracy rating go up, but it should still be there. And the accuracy of the report should never go down unless there's an injury or perhaps a small decline in the offseason to account for skill advancement/regression while not playing.

I usually change the report update frequency from the default so i can have updated reports more often. |

Which is closer to realistic. It doesn't account for accuracy going backward, though. My point above is that in real life, new information is available daily. I'm not saying we need a new report daily in OOTP, but the user shouldn't have to worry about settings possibly causing accuracy to regress. If anything, the report should be automatically updated when the user accesses any report for a player in the organization. But, I'm not a programmer, so I don't know if that's actually possible.

I find it very annoying that it constantly reverts back to the OSA as the default. If I select my scout it needs to stay there indefinitely. The number of times it automatically goes back to OSA and i draft the wrong players as a result
