Not Brand New Second Hand

Would it be possible, in some form or another, to give the player the ability to reset a card to it's default 'mint' status? Something like a one-time option on a freshly purchased card.

It sucks having to go through several used cards to get to the mint copy that I want. 10% tax an' all.

Being able to do a reset would make it moot whether a card has been used or not, which I think would make buying AND selling less stressful for quite a few players.

Whenever I think I should seek help for my OCD, another one of those threads comes around...

I second this motion! I have asked for this for over two years now. I don't see why it would bust the game to do it. Who would care other than the people that actually want it? Please give us this option!

Its on the list of potential improvements/additions, but it's not really a development priority at this time

Thanks Kris. That's realistically the best I could hope for. I also appreciate that a lot of things are easier said than done, even if they seem fairly simple.

I have that on my list of important stuff to add to PT. It's 17,823 which I think is last. That said, not dissing you my buddy Orcin. Just don't get it, it's probably me.

If you combine good at math with OCD, you get me... accountant. I want to look at numbers that are MY numbers, not yours. Maybe you had a jacked-up park. Maybe you platooned and I didn't. I can't analyze career numbers that don't have context. It is a pretty simple request. Just give us a button that says "return to mfg default". Easy to do, but not important apparently.

I have never seen it put together that precisely

Here’s a thought… Wouldn’t it work as well to reset the card to a mint when it is purchased off the auction house? Is there a compelling reason to keep the cards previous stats?

Got to admit i disagree on this one... I understand for tracking purposes of the players stats, however the player did play for other teams and I am not a fan of erasing history of any kind.

I would be fine with a button that once the player is on your team you can choose not to see his other stats but I think the stat history should be available for all to see. Just for the simple fact, it happened and it is part of that card's history.

I previously suggested (over a year ago) that the career batting and pitching stats pages show totals by team at the bottom or have a dropdown to show it (as currently exists for league level). Either of those options would satisfy me, and it doesn't seem like it would take a lot of resources. With this solution, training would be retained and your history would not be lost, and I could see how the player has performed for me vs. the prior owner. That solution was not a priority either.

I sign every card I pull with one game. It's always fun to see and ex-card in the wild.

I wouldn't want to lose any extra training from the previous owner. In PT20 I sold Lou Boudreau for a big profit then bought it back later at a big discount and was fully trained at 3B.

I'd be much happier with complete card resets and no positional training.

It doesn't make any sense to not know exactly what you are buying on the AH.

If it's easier to implement, another way to go would be to simply add a filter option for "my team only" stats, as opposed to completely wiping out the previous ones from the card. That would totally do the trick for me

Unless he gets a card that's been very good...It'd still be good for them..lol...In PT 20 I had gotten a Sandy Koufax 100 out of AH that someone had used as a reliever for about 8 years...He's up tp 667 wins as a starter for me last time I looked..I couldn't care less unless it's been trained up...OH Yes.

It only makes any sense if the demands of showing cards info would put too much strain on the game engine. In which case, a card reset could be an undemanding 'solution'.

I wouldn't mind if it cost an amount of PP to do a reset.

It does. The price is variable though. It takes 10% of however many cards you have to re-sell before finding a clean one.

Coming this summer from OOTP:

You see a great looking card on the AH, but you want to make sure it hasn't been too badly abused. You need to see the CARDFAX. Click the "Show me the CARDFAX" button, and for a nominal fee* you'll be able to see the entire history of that card.

Just remember, before you press that button, you need to yell "SHOW ME THE CARDFAX"

Now, to get a graphic of the CardWeasel to complete this. Maybe a mascot costume for the live streams, too.

*This is a joke. I don't think OOTP would actually do that to us.

The inability to get a clean card from the AH is the most frustrating thing in the game for me. It happened to me again today.

But it's not really a development priority at this time.
