No Front Office Football from OOTP

What a bummer. Six years of anticipation for nothing. And closing the forum. Yeah, not a good look from OOTP. I fully expect this thread to be deleted as well.

Yeah it sucks, but every major software developer has had this happen to them over the years (some multiple times) and have been fine.....hopefully Jim ends up releasing FOF 9 at some point.

Yes, we are very disappointed as well. The football project seems to be under a bad star for us, but it is what it is.

Jim inherits a fine code base (very similar to the one of FHM, and in many aspects more modern & advanced) that we invested a lot of time in. I am sure he will be able turn it into a good game in the future.

Here's the official announcement, btw: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...19#post4657519

At least we finally have closure, I guess. Just incredibly disappointing to have the football community left hanging for so long on here, but no sense in griping any more than I have at this point.

So I guess now the question is does Jim use the code base he is keeping or does he just port his engine modifications over to the FOF8 code and drop all of the UI stuff OOTP did?

Time to re-open all the posts about UI help, gofundme, etc?

I'd certainly be up for chucking some $$$ at FOF to get the UI upgrade it needs... because the game itself is excellent which is why I was so keen (along with many others of course) to see it with the OOTP interface.

This is great news IMO!

I would also be down for a Kickstarter to support a GUI update!

Agreed. Anything to polish the look and feel. If only we could get customization too, but that's probably a pipe dream.

This is GREAT news as far as I am concerned. FOF was never about fancy graphics it is about quality content and an accurate football sim. I was always concerned what we would end up with, due to the outside influence. Can't wait for the next edition of FOF now!!!

Would be great to see what we already have polished up Jim. Injuries to be made more accurate and RL, adjustments to the height and weight effect, let punishing hitter actually be meaningful, give us more options to control our defense, bring player personality more in to the game.

Anything we can do to promote your game, just ask. You have a loyal fan base and we will do all we can to push the game.

Good riddance to OOTP, they hung Jim out to dry big time have delayed the game and not kept to their side of the bargain you would guess. A lot of FOFers will be cursing the OOTP brand today i reckon. it will be interesting to see what Jim does now but one thing is for sure he'll have our support!

And you would guess wrong. Every side did the best they could, but it did not work out. It's really as simple as that.

These are your words Marcus of today" Simply put, we won’t be able to allocate the resources we need to deliver the Front Office Football product up to the standards that our fans expect and deserve for a long time"

Does that sound like OOTP let Jim down or Jim let you down? I think everyone knows the answer Marcus!!!!!

It's Markus.

You can interpret whatever you like into these words, of course. But, again, it simply did not work out, unfortunately.

Come on at least have some decency and be honest. Nobody is going to buy that. You had higher priorities and hung Jim out to dry. End of story.

Business is business, we get it. You did what you had to do to make more money. But one thing you didn't do is the best you could.

Any you know this how? Are you part of the company, the decision-making process? No? Thought so.

Look, you can think whatever you want. But don't you think that we would have loved to have a football game similar to our baseball & hockey game in our lineup? That's why we have tried, for many years, spending countles amounts of money and time. And, for the third time, it did not work out. Jim inherits the complete code, free of charge or future royalties, and is free to do whatever he likes with it. There are no hard feelings.

Marcus you promised the game time and time again and put your resources else where, like Nature Boy said it's a business decision and we get that but you still have not kept your part of the bargain and at this point we don't have a game. The many FOF MP leagues are already talking and they are all backing Jim and not being to nice about OOTP, I guess we must all be wrong?

Quit wasting your damn resources on Perfect Team. It doesnt need resources. Its an arcade version of OOTP. Throw some new cards out a few times a year and its good. Or even better, make it into a facebook app and really become rich and hire people to just focus on that crap.

Since perfect team came out the main product has taken a back seat. It is annoying.

Now instead of having a new football game to play. We get this....

You don't know the details, of course. But I repeat myself, both we and Jim are disappointed that this did not work out the way we envisioned when we started a few years ago. But, nothing was wasted as, again, Jim gets complete ownership of everything that we produced together.

If you put the effort in, the star would become a good one. If you can't make a football game a priority, quit pretending. You found the right person and you screwed this one up.
