Recall after minor league optioning
According to MLB rules,
I wonder why this rule has never been implemented in OOTP, especially when PT mode has something similar when sending down players. Without it, one can keep an eligible pitcher down between appearances. I'll definitely adhere to this rule but that requires keeping track of the transactions. |

Agreed.
I adhere to it but probably it puts the AI a disadvantage Last edited by CBeisbol; 06-04-2020 at 09:04 PM. |

I'm so obsessive about my MLB universe that I spend 5 or so total minutes checking each team's transaction log on a daily basis during the season (it's the only way to see who gets called up since the so-called complete transactions log under MLB>Transactions doesn't show this), and the AI constantly churns players from MLB to AAA and back on a daily basis, often yanking the same guys back and forth. I'm managing the Rays in this version and I try to abide by this rule even though the AI doesn't (and with how well my Rays staff has done I barely am tempted to do this).
Ironically, the one time I was going to do it Chaz Roe got hurt and I ended bringing up the AAA pitcher for that reason instead of the non-MLB-compliant up/down I was planning. It's like the game read my mind. I know it's good but it's not that good. |

I have always tried to follow that rule with my teams even though the AI does not follow it. I have always felt it might be difficult to code this rule, especially with the AI. It is not difficult to add a count of days to a player to keep track of when the AI could recall someone. The difficult thing could be making sure the AI understands if it options someone, it knows that player cannot return for 10/15 days. That might influence whether the AI really wants to send a player down.
Unlike PT this rule also has exceptions that would need to be followed, for example, the 10/15 day rule does not apply if someone goes on the injured list, or if they are the extra man for a Doubleheader, which is another rule that does not exist in OOTP. Probably not a huge issue, but it is probably mainly getting the AI to work with this rule that would be difficult. |

IMO this makes up for the lack of the extra player for doubleheaders and those jeffw mentiond, and what seems like too much of a hangover for relievers to recover from an outing, especially the long relief/mop up guy if used for 30+ pitches.
