Season 11 Thread -- Don't Worry in 2030

But, I am worried.

Collingwood is in a division with 1) Washington Agents whose worst of 4 seasons in Diamond is 114 wins, 2) Alexandria SafeZone with 5 Diamond seasons including 1 championship season 3) Springfield Isotopes, 2 seasons averaging 100+ wins. Even the gold league refugee, Philadelphia Fanatics looks like a tough customer.

I worry that spending all the Mets' dosh (16k) on Peak Carl Furillo will have been wrong like every single thing I do in this year's game.

Next goal for the Mets is that SE Piazza. I need 11 Mets cards for that. Two bronze and nine silver. I have all the live Mets that are gold, because very early on those appeared to be of better get-better-fast value for only marginally more money. So I only picked up Matzie among silvers.

And now I'm bitten in the arse by it all.

Getting my first ever crack at Diamond. Probably going to get cracked.

I expect both of my undercard teams to win over 100 games in Iron. They both should complete all the Live Missions this week. Oddly, last season they ended up in the same league and met in the WS.

Diamond 362. Winnipeg Brew Jays have the best overall winning pct. until they finished 2nd in Diamond. St Paul Saints seem strong and will be difficult to handle in my division.

Many decent teams in this league. But none too truly worry. Should be competitive.

14-13 start for Paragon City despite having no real 2b/ss combo (listed my old 2b/ss on sunday and the delayed start meant i didn't have a chance to pull them down before the new league start. So i have live Andrelton Simmons and SE Carlos Correa (with zero training at 2b), unsurprising that Maddux isn't doing well.

Well I made it to the inaugural Perfect this week. To say the competition is tough, well....YIKES! I have only 1 perfect card and that is SE Yogi. I should be roundly turned to paste by Wednesday but for now, I'm .500.

Back to Diamond in 3...2..1...

Your team must have carried their form into this week! I was very surprised that they won our diamond league last week, and I'm just as surprised that they're playing .500 this week!! Care to share your secrets...

Good luck with the rest of the week and feel free to post a full league table some time .

Maybe even a screenshot of your roster? It might give other players hope...

As far as my teams go, yeah, I'm worried . They're all playing horrible defense and I don't understand why .

Tinners are sharing a division with the Red Raiders and I don't want them to show themselves up!!!

So far there have been a lot of 4-6, 5-5, 6-4 in last 10-games. Good mix. As for my roster, it has a bunch of Live SE cards and some gold and a bronze Ozzie.

Nobody expects the Huntley Red Raiders!

And, especially considering that lineup stalwarts Jeff Bagwell and Carl Yastrzemski got off to horrid starts (respective OPSs in April: .608 and .687) and supposed ace Hal Newhouser's current ERA+ is a wretched 65, I'm pleasantly surprised to see a rare above-.500 Diamond record for Huntley! And even more shockingly, if the season ended today, the Red Raiders would be the second NC Wild Card! It's unlikely that will last, so I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

Oh, and for all those "F2P can't possibly complete at Diamond" posters, please direct your attention to the AC East, where, unless team owner Dubsonic's pants are perpetually on fire, the Towers of the Dub AAA (0$) seem to be doing quite nicely for themselves in the first third of the 2030 season.

Well, all three of my teams are in gold this week. The Cluckers and Irregulars are there for the first time, while Los Perros just avoided relegation down to Silver last week.

The Cluckers have stumbled out of the gate after a strong 2029 season in Silver, posting one of the worst records in their Gold league. The team is hoping to add some depth at catcher, third base, and pitching in the near future, but the best they can probably hope for right now is avoiding relegation.

The Irregulars are muddling at around .500 so far this season. The offense has been solid, but Randy Johnson, who won 22 in the Silver league last year, is posting almost a 10 ERA so far.

Los Perros were 73-89 last season, but the same exact squad has started off the 2030 season strong with a 27-17 record, just 2.5 games out of the division lead. So far, big bounce-back seasons from Maddux, Lyons, Cano, and Yastrzemski have made the difference.

The Cluckers are almost finished with all of the live collection missions, while the Irregulars and los Perros have completed the live collection missions. The general strategy for all three FTP teams post-collection missions is to win packs from tournaments and flip cards in the auction house. Rather than incremental improvements, the goal is to amass as much PP as possible and target high end cards (or luck into them through packs). It's a long game strategy.

Lefty Grove Throws 2nd Career No Hitter

Amazingly, Lefty Grove lost another no-hitter (against the same team) with two outs in the 9th later during this same season. And the Las Vegas Gamblers are no slouch. They are a very fine team that currently has a 50-33 record and is in 2nd place in my division.

Lowdown Lugnuts are 36-18 but trailing the division by 2 games to a team that features perfects such as Tris Speaker, Babe Ruth, Luke Appling etc. Already moved away from Nathan as a closer as he blew 4 saves in the 1st month, current incumbent is SE Walter Johnson who blew his 1st save, won the game anyway and has since not given up a run in 7 IP

Paragon City Heroes 26-28 in a division where everyone is beating up everyone else, apart from the 41-12 Sun Devils the other teams are all within 2 1/2 games , we are 4th in the conference in runs scored and 15th in runs against, perils of playing in a maxed out offensive park

Bay City Boomers 29-25 still picking up PP for offence but the lack of investment in pitching shows, not too bothered if i miss the playoffs as the team is nowhere near Diamond level and can hopefully earn points by staying in gold for a few seasons

.318/.367/.517 in 49 games.

And ZERO points.

Just hopping along. Will be in a battle with the Razors for conference #1 seed.

You can also see what we're working with. SE Bagwell is cut off and Tommy McCarthy is partially cut off.

On the one hand, the White Tigers kinda suck, we have the 7th best run differential in the AC in D.368, we only have 3 players on the last voting list for the all start game (Lajoie 1st at SS, Yaz 2nd at LF, Bagwell 3rd at 1B), we have the best FIP but only the 4th best ERA, Guidry has a losing record, Paige and Maddux are only 1 game above .500, Verlander is only 2 games above .500, Richard doesn't even make it onto the top 7 list for saves, I have nobody on the list for wins or ERA or home runs or RBIs, Lajoie shows up between 3rd and 7th on a bunch of batting lists but that's it other than Yaz having a lot of runs and Bellinger having a lot of triples, our team defensive efficiency is 6th, zone rating is tied for 5th, OPS is 5th, we have the 8th most walks, we're 14th in stolen bases, 10th in home runs, we're really not very good at anything.

On the other hand we have the second best record.

So..... OK.

I experimented with a max offence park on Paragon City Heroes as in previous seasons they generally did decently in terms of runs allowed but lacks a bit in offence. It hasn't gone well, 3rd in runs scored and last in runs allowed with a -68 Run differential. The only players that have improved their offence over previous seasons are POTM Cody Bellinger (.927 OPS) Carney Lansford (851 OPS) and Norm Cash (863 OPS), meanwhile every pitcher is doing terribly and we aren't even earning PP above the normal trickle... failed experiment
