In game momentum?
Hello!
How much does the previous at bat effect the next for a pitcher? All things being equal, if a pitcher gives up a HR, does it effect the next at bat more than if a pitcher gives up a 2B, and a 2B more so than a single? Do the odds change for the next at bat because of the HR and how much do you think? One more thing When it says that a player is on fire or ice cold is that just a visual of recent success or does it change a players performance? Should I expect better play from my fire guys or is it just letting me know he has had a good week? |

Re: slumps/hot streaks, I'm pretty sure it does have at least some effect. Whether that effect a separate mechanic, or whether it's just the recent performance component of morale is unknown (except to the programmers). That said, I'd still try to play a player in a slump, unless it's an elimination game; I've discovered that they'll never get back to normal if they don't get reps.
I've seen no evidence to suggest that the results of any given at-bat affect the pitcher, aside from the increase in pitch-count. |
