There are some very good teams in Diamond

as my team with 8 straight playoff appearances is finding out. Oof.

On the good side, probably not getting relegated. On my limited budget, that's an accomplishment in itself.

While it sucks losing, there are some VERY good teams there...something for me to work towards. To those of you walloping my guys...congratulations.

No kidding. I share the congrats...some really good teams.

Main FTP team made it there. Not even close to being viable on that level at least for now.

Completely given up Diamond aspiration for the other two teams. Will do theme or pack only.

Tournaments are more fun to compete in and build for in my opinion. As someone not playing my "best" cards in Diamond (not that they'd compete with the whale teams) because it just doesn't matter.

I'd much rather watch a team of some of my favorites compete and see how far they can get as I try to get rewards from tournaments than to play a roster full of players I have no connection to but they got them ratings!

Now a few of my favorites have been added as Perfect Cards (I just saw that Robin Yount perfect in the auction house the other day ) so maybe in the far future I'll have a competitive league team, but until then trying to fill my squad with favorites from the 90s/2000s has been fun as I dig into stats and ratings to build tournament teams.

Diamond is very dependent on luck of the draw with Leagues & Divisions right now, my guys had an easier ride last week and picked up 91 wins - this week, an improved squad is at 66-83

Yes. It seems to have a lot to do with draw. The hitting is so good that most pitchers get rocked too. You need great pitching and defense to even compete. I personally like it.

Got relegated, but held up fairly well on the PP front for the week, considering my team is FTP. They're not ready, and I knew it...but I made it and I'm glad for the experience. Prepping for next week's Gold Season, knowing I'll do better.

Reading this is reaffirming that I should stick to tournaments.

Why not both?

Just for giggles, ran some quick numbers on my Diamond League that had 23,000 runs scored. Weighted by PA/BF:

Avg Batter: 88 CON, 79 GAP, 91 POW, 69 EYE, 70 AVK
.261 AVG, .330 OBP, .426 SLG, .756 OPS

Avg Pitcher: 108 STU, 81 MOV, 86 CON
4.52 ERA, 4.24 FIP, 1.1 HR/9, 3.2 BB/9, 7.6 K/9

Your normally above average pitcher is maybe average in diamond due to the amount of good pitching ratings in the league (i.e. ratings inflation).
