OOTP Weather Data

Just wondering where is the best place to find the kind of weather data that OOTP uses? I would like to completely rebuild the ballpark data and factors for all 30 MLB stadiums and would like the most accurate data possible. For example, I would want to use weather data specific to Smyrna, GA instead of Atlanta when trying to generate park factors for Truist Park.

You could always do a google search for the city or even weather.com for monthly weather information.

For the US, you can probably get what you want from the NOAA's data sets, probably in the section under local climate. Note that getting data out of them is annoying -- you have to put data sets you want in a cart and "order" them, then wait for an email. Everything's free, however. Their weather stations are generally at airports, so you'd have to find the closest airfield to each ballpark. (They list two for Cobb County, a municipal field and an Air Force base.)

I suspect that you'll find that this is a lot of work for a very minimal differences. Though it might matter a bit more in places by a large body of water where the main weather station is much farther inland than the ballpark. (Chicago is the obvious example, though the real immediate lake effects are felt more in the football stadium on the waterfront than in Wrigley or the White Sox park.)

Atlanta's new and old ballpark are just 14 miles apart. Is the weather that much different?

Certainly could be

From where I live, 14 miles could put you on top of a mountain, the other side of a mountain range, in a river valley...

Having lived in Atlanta for 2 1/2 years and being familiar with the area, I would say in this particular instance, no.

But I could definitely see how weather could be different within a short radius in other areas.

I was stationed in Georgia for almost 5 years in the Army and the weather is hot, really humid, and sometimes hotter than hot.

I'm pretty sure anywhere within 50 miles of Atlanta would get you what you need.
