Worth it to play games?

If one wants to see some really unbelievable baseball results I would recommend spending a couple of hours reading Baseball Reference. If you want to drill down to individual games go to Retrosheet. I am becoming convinced that MLB has faulty AI. The results of some games just doesn't make any sense.

I was winning 9-5.

My opponents hit 2 home runs to start off the ninth inning.

Then I bring my HALL OF FAME CLOSER in the game

My opponents hit 2 MORE HOME RUNS

FOUR STRAIGHT HOME RUNS (THE AI CHEATS!!!!!!!)

Then, the AI lets me score in the 10th inning

and my opponents hit a walk-off home run in the tenth inning. THE AI CHEATS!!!

smh lol!I lost 4 straight up 3-0 in the world series ( But oddly enough I DONT THINK TH AI CHEATED!!It's baseball that's the beauty in it sometimes weird **** happens somethimes for you often the other way ) Did it suck absloutley do I think I was cheated?Absloutley not!!Just my two cents everybody is entitled to their opinion and that's mine.

What would OOTP's motive be in creating a cheating AI that makes the game less enjoyable for its customers? If they WERE going to go through the trouble of "fixing" the results, it would make more sense to "cheat" in favor of the human player...winning makes people happier than losing...happy customers are loyal customers.

My biggest issue here is...if this is your belief, why do you keep spending money on the game year after year? I know it’s $40, but still. It just sounds like he wants to make noise.

My entire theory on playing out games is since the 3d is so out of sync and the flow is completely off it puts doubts into many players heads when watching it. So anything weird is called into question.

I fall victim to it every now and then myself. Wild pitches, diving catches, balks etc. And I only play 2 or 3 dozen games a season. Its just the flow and sync are so bad that it registers in your brain in a negative way.

Watch 3d in Motorsport manager or football manager the flow and sync are so much better. Its not the animations. Just have base runners and a hit to outfield. The catch, throws and base running are completely out of sync and make no sense when watching.

And I don't give 1 f about the play by play. I play in 3d so I don't have to read text. So tired of hearing players say oh but the play by play. Sorry 3d engine is 3 years old I don't want to hear play by play text excuse anymore. Its old and played out response

Me too. The one that really burns me is when my first baseman fields a hard hit grounder right next to the bag. then instead of stepping on the bag, he stands there for 3 seconds waiting for the pitcher to run over, then he hands to ball off to the pitcher after the batter has already crossed the bag.

Think I said this on another thread I've never ever seen the 3rd baseman step on 3rd base with 2 outs and a force st 3rd. Always goes to 1st. I'm like you just caught it 2 inches from the bag why make the throw?

Its like since our brain is detecting flaws in the 3d playing we start to doubt everything else we are seeing. And boom. Its 3d is different then sim. AI cheats. There is too many x, y, z.

The word I would use to describe ootpb 3d is "janky". I'm not sure if it's made enough improvements in 3 years yet. The timing, flow, and sync are just completely off from what our brain expects. Not just from real life baseball games but from baseball action video games we've played since children.

When I see odd things with the 3D play I just check the play results to see what happened. They're limited in how many grounders to 1b who throws to the pitcher or two out grounders to 3b who throws to first instead of going to the bag graphics they've got to display the action on the field. Would be nice if they had dozens to display each possible play but even then eventually the program would make an odd choice that we'd take note of because it clearly struck us as weird.
btw, I play out all my games, sometimes on one pitch and sometimes pitch by pitch. Depends on how much time I have and how I feel. Gotta play 'em out to get packs in challenge mode.

As a person with probably hundreds of thousands of played out games over the last 17 years, there are times when I try to break a losing streak by simming a few games here and there. And if I get really frustrated, buried in last place well after the AS break, many times, I will sim a lot of the games just to get to the end of the season and do what I can to better the team and start playing out again.

Not with two outs, but my third baseman just made the unassisted at 5

Ninth inning. I'm winning 3-2. I don't care if I win, I just don't want an extra inning game. I'm using my AAA players to finish up the game.

My first pitcher issues a walk
And is injured. I replace them.

My second pitcher gets an out on a sac bunt
Then an out on a sac fly
Then is injured. I replace them

My third pitcher gives up a game tying single.
I'm not happy
My third pitcher gets the third out.


The opposing team brings in their HALL OF FAME closer
I'm not happy
We don't score

My next AAA middle reliever pitches a shut out inning.

My opponents bring in an ALL-STAR reliever.
I'm not happy.

My 5th string catcher leads off with a single.
My backup AA SS gets a sac bunt
A backup AAA CFer grounds out and the 5th string C goes to 3rd
Their ALL-STAR reliever intentionally walks my AAA backup infielder.
My AAA LF hits a walk off single off their ALL-STAR reliever

I was always a simmer for years but now i play all the road games and sim home games, i like playing in all the different stadiums and my season goes faster....

I got to September of a losing season and decided to watch my minor league playoff teams and sim my MLB team. The AI took my MLB squad on a 10 game winning streak. Not gonna lie, it hurt.
