Minor Request - Sortable Stats
When using sortable stats in OOTP, I noticed that there is no column to rank the players based on where they stand on the list. For instance, if I want to see how a player did, I have to count the column to see that they were 9th overall in Batting Average. I noticed on the Baseball Reference site that they have a column that does this automatically. Would this be possible to add?

Second. I've been exporting to excel to count how many exceeded certain thresholds to compare with baseball reference.

Third. I am wondering if Matt or Markus could consider adding this minor detail in an upcoming patch. Would help with comparing stat thresholds.

Yes! Longtime lurker. Love the new immersions and UI this year. This would be a nice touch to add. I vote yes on this idea!

Checked on the new patch from today and no change here. I still like the idea of having a column in the stats where you could easily see how many players met a certain threshold. Baseball Reference does this and I'm thinking I became spoiled over the years. Hoping it could 1 day be added for ranking players on the sortable stats screen.

On a somewhat similar note, is there anyway to get a similar type list for team stats? All I have ever been able to find is the listing inside the standings which is very cumbersome to eyeball the teams order in a particular category. I want to be able to see just how awful my team is in GIDP, Ks, LOB, etc.. Some of that data, at least, is collected because you can see your team's rank in the Teams Stats Rankings. But I don't know where you can see all the teams at one time. Is there a report out there that does this? Or has this type of report been overlooked somehow?
On a different topic, I would also love to be able to see my team's and opponents total scoring inning by inning (so I can see just how truly awful my bullpen is) If there is somewhere I can access any of this info, please point me in the right direction. Thanks. |

Yeah
It's ridiculous how difficult it is to look at stats or rating of all the players in the league |

I ended up building some filters and then it will tell you how many people meet that filter in the top right. Clumsy but for example it works for my purposes of identifying the number of players who made 30 plus starts or under a certain age.

I like the idea of adding a similar list to team stats. I think that any sortable list should have the option of a number column that could be added in our customizable lists.

Probably a bit off topic, but I dig how baseball reference, for player batting stats, lists starters first - C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, CF, RF based upon who played the most games at each position - and then the rest of the batters according to plate appearances, and then the pitchers according to plate appearances.
And then for pitching stats, it lists the five or six starting pitchers according to innings pitches in the first grouping, and then the relievers with the Closer first (if era-appropriate) and then the other pitchers by innings pitched. Gives, IMO, a real good essence of who the team was... https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/NYY/1927.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/LAD/1977.shtml Would be cool if OOTP could incorporate that as a sorting option. |

While we are on it, we need better splits
There are useless splits for day/night but not useful splits like times through the order, per pitch number, by inning, etc. Also, is it even possible to get league stats and splits? |

Since (I seem to be learning that) this is a data-driven, sandbox game, I think the designer's intent is that you can export all data into spreadsheets at which point - what can't you do with the data?

It's not what I can't do with the data, it's just making it easier on the eye. Like on baseball reference, you can immediately see in what place a batter is in for a certain category. It numbers them for you. In OOTP, you could do that by exporting a list and opening to an Excel document but I just think it would be easier to have it numbered automatically (or as an option column to add). I know it's been really convenient to have the draft list numbered so that you can see how certain picks have evolved.

Or the game can just sort.
Why export data simply to do something like sort teams by defensive efficiency for example? The game can obviously do this if it's telling me on my team overview page what place I'm in for runs and etc., so why not a whole page dedicated to that endeavor? To constantly put the onus on the user to export and explore the data for something the game can easily do and seems to already do is really poor. It can be a total turnoff to some and is annoying to most, I'd bet.

League stats as well
How can you know if your team or player is good or bad if you don't know what league average is Last edited by CBeisbol; 05-14-2020 at 07:35 PM. Reason: Typo |
