Personality changes

Has anyone seen a personality change in a player.

I have several leaders on my team, and one captain.

The captain is aging and sometime in the future I would be looking to not re-sign him.

Would like one of the leaders to move up.

Unless it's changed in the last couple years, players generally do become better leaders as they age. So if you have a 21 year old who is already high in leadership (and not low in anything else good), he may become a captain in time. No guarantee, though.

I believe they need high work ethic and high leadership to become captains. But they can also become fan favorites which blocks them from captain. I forget about sparkplug. But those 3 are pretty close and you can only get 1 label at a time. Sometimes it changes too. Its pretty weird mechanic.

If you are playing full universe it's actually pretty easy to always get a backup catcher as a captain or some utility infielder.

even if you aren't full universe. You can certainly pickup 1 up in the Rule 5 draft most years. As long as the backup catcher can catch and is a captain take him. Doesn't matter if he can't hit a lick he will play 25-30 games max. Your real backup catcher for your starter keep in AAA in case of injury.

Also loyalty. And without checking, I think captain overrides fan favorite.

There was a spreadsheet somewhere around the forum that has all of the personality traits listed for the different team labels. Let me try to google it....

The fan favorite captain thing is weird. If they get captain first then it'll stick. If they get fan favorite first it can flip to captain in the future but you won't be sure when it will happen. It should eventually flip but no idea if its timed or if they have hit to a certain number of year pro etc.

The 2nd one also has a couple other links inside it. Couple of years old but it hasn't been updated since OOTPb 18 I believe before that their were some different labels like slacker.

My one player became a serial killer. It said he was happy and productive and then one day it was like out of the movie The Fan....dude just went off..... lol
