Duplicate player created

I'm replaying the 2020 season as scheduled, with Challenge Mode turned off. I resumed my save to see that I had to review my rotation - Robbie Ray had been added to my reserve roster and called up on the current day in the schedule and Mike Fiers had been DFAd. When I searched for him, Robbie Ray is also currently in the D-Backs rotation.

What happened? I can't figure out how to turn Challenge Mode back off and delete the dupe Ray and move Fiers back to my 40 man.

**EDIT - Just realized that this happened after I won Robbie Ray in auction in Perfect Team.

If challenge mode is on you can't do anything. There will be 2 of him. You can get him off your team but that is about it.

Challenge mode is the worst never turn it on. When glitches happen you are stuck with it when it's on. There is no way to turn it off or remove it from a universe. You would have to start a new game

That's crazy. I didn't run into that at all in OOTP20. And remember, I started this league with CM off and somehow CM got turned on AFTER I was already into my season.

Yeah I am not exactly sure of your glitch or of any way to fix it. The basics is once challenge mode is enabled on a save/universe there is no way to turn it off. It will always be challenge mode which means no commish access.

So no way to fix anything. I usually get the game setup, for my universe, how I want and then make a template in case I want to restart later with a different team. No need to do all that work again.

I do monthly saves and usually 4 month separate backups. Just in case some kind of bug/glitch enters the picture.

OOTPb really needs an autosave rollover feature where it does like 10 autosaves that just get rewritten. So at least you always have separate saves for your last 10 months on hand. And autobackups once a year.

So sadly nothing you can if the duplicate player bothers you that much. But being in challenge mode I probably reconsider starting a universe.

Thankfully, for this league I didn't really customize anything so if I restart, I just restart it. I'll have to remember to back the league up once a week or so in the future.

Is it common for Challenge Mode to all of a sudden be turned on in a league after I've started with it turned off? That's more worrying to me now.

It is real easy to accept challenge mode and not even realize it. You get that prompt in the beginning. That is usually the case where people clicked it without even knowing it. I've never heard of it randomly getting turned on. But I guess anything is possible.

Probably don't want to backup once a week that is crazy as its several minutes depending on league size, age, logos, etc lol. I try to backup every 3 or 4 months but it usually ends up being 6 months. I remember in July at all star time and in December for rule 5 draft.

A couple backups a year are important. In case a patch comes out and it fouls up the draft or International Amateurs etc. It happens more then people think. If you sim most games you can get pretty far into the future. While so many play out almost every game they might not get hit with a patch glitch.

I auto save every month just in case there is a desktop crash or something along those lines.
