Challenge mode crash

i tried to start a new game using Challenge Mode as a minor league manager, but when selecting a starting team from the minor leagues, I've found that if you select an affiliated minor league team, the game closes/crashes. Trying to start a non-challenge mode game did not cause a crash.

Tried with real minor league teams and with fictional teams.

Tried in 1983 with real minor league teams and selecting Walla Walla, an unaffiliated team in the Northwest league didn't cause the game to crash, but clicking on Tri-Cities did.
