Season 7 (2026) Thread

Wow, I come home to post in the thread, the season's nearly an hour old, and nobody's created the thread yet. What's going on here?

Post away, people...

Last week was a bit of a lost cause for my stable of teams, with the Bibra Lake Quendas being the only team to make the playoffs. Their 101-61 record was outstanding, but unfortunately that was only good enough for second place and a division series exit against the 121-41 Cutthroats. Their record was good enough for promotion, however, and the Quendas will make their Iron debut in I175. There are now 16 Future Legends on the Quendas, an entire starting lineup, pitching rotation and our new closer, 90 OVR Forrest Whitely. Our draw is fairly favorable with only one of our 19 opponents boasting a lifetime record above .600, and that team is in the opposite conference.

The Lynn Live Oaks continue to take advantage of a generally buyer's market to rack up some completed missions. Last week, the Oaks finished off the AL West and picked up Ichiro to put in RF. This week, the focus will be on the AL Central, with just the White Sox and Twins to go. The Oaks will be in ST160, and again it's a favorable draw although a Hopefully the infusion of fresh talent, including Ichiro, Plank, Bagwell, Rosen and Kinsler for a full season, with potentially Nathan, Lyons and Blyleven, will propel Lynn out of the doldrums. Increased performance, and management may have to consider pushing back the fences at Lynn Tricentennial Park.

The Secret Harbour Pirates failed to gain promotion for the first time in the team's history last week. The Pirates couldn't take advantage of being in a 20-team Gold league and faded down the stretch, missing the playoffs and promotion by three games. This season, the Buccos are in the NC West in G306 which, going by the percentages, seems to be wide open. Thankfully, there are no obvious whales in the AC West, either. The Osgoode Senators, who we played in Silver, are in the AC Central (kinda shocked they didn't get promoted to Diamond last week, either) and will be tough. And the World Famous Florida Fire Frogs should run roughshod over the AC East.

Collingwood repeating silver is the fruit of defeat, but I see lurking in the other conference the strongest team I've seen so far: the Susquehanna Soniqs. They, too, must have suffered the agony of a Division Series defeat last week. Nevertheless, the fearless Magpies are expected to stand pat. Only a tweak, moving McDougald to 2B and Cano to 3B and keeping Grandal as defensive catcher in 9th inning save situations. Nathan remains the closer, though he ranks (according to my system) as my worst reliever. It's hard to remove him after winning Reliever of the Year TWO weeks in a row and only 1 blown save in that time frame.

Welcome to Diamond. In a 30 team league, we have the following number of Live SE cards in the league (I didn't look to see if they are ALL active or not...):

23: Ichiro, Bagwell
22: Yogi
21: Yaz, Blyleven, Nathan
20: Maddux, Cano, Carlton, Duke

That's 2/3rds of the league with the same 10 cards. There are at least 10 other Live Reward cards on another 12+ teams.

Put some money in a theme team that has done well so far, but I reckon I have no chance against all the Live Reward teams. I wouldn't even mind losing if there was some variation, but I don't even need to watch the league this week to find the same players in the leaderboards (e.g. Ichiro - SBs). Just boring.

Having some buyers remorse already. I know you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube this year, but I hope there is some serious thought put into the reward structure/timing next year.

I will have some fun with my other FTP theme teams, and hope they never get too good to land in the cookie cutter leagues. At least there is some variation in the lower levels.

And who knows, I may get lucky anyways. I actually won Perfect once last year with a theme team that had no business doing so LOL

thats not going to happen this year, you'd have to get lucky for the playoffs, win a diamond title, then qualify for the perfect playoffs against elite team. A Diamond Title this year is equivalent to last years Perfect imo.

Three teams with England flags in Diamond .361, fairly unusual

That CARD SYNC ERROR worked itself out pretty quickly...just 30 min or so of down time.

Anyhow, we're in D359 as the signature makes plain. This is gonna be a rough one with the Asbury Springboks and Pioneer Valley Warlocks both in my division. There will be some pretty furious competition for the 5 playoffs spots in the AC: Springboks, Warlocks, Rockhounds, Knights, 49ers, Frogs, and Stacocakes (at least) in the mix. The NC doesn't look any easier: Discordia Synthwave, Hong Kong Nation, Virginia Beach Freaks, New York Mjolnirs, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Defuniak Defuncts, Las Vegas Gamblers, San Angelo Warbirds, and Dallas Sun Devils all ready for mutually-assured destruction.

Frogs are just tossing out what I believe to be our best, most balanced squad. No cheddar this week. New additions being 98 SE Joe Medwick and 97 SE Frank Thomas to make us a bit more fearsome against LHP.

Good luck to all this week!

Week 1 off to a not-so-swimming start in Silver 264.
The Manatees (not whales, but larger than average!) are off to a rocky 6-4 start, but welcome the wonderfully named Altoona Sandwich to The Splash Pad this week.

You'd think that a docile marine mammal encased in metal would not fare so well, but the Iron Manatees are off to a 7-2 start in Rookie, and just took down a 4 pack tournament that saw them bolster their ranks with Miguel Sano, Paul Goldschmidt and Josh Donaldson with the prize.

Their Rookie league cousins, the Bapho Mets, are off to a 4-5 start, winning most of their games at home in the Ninth Circle of Hell (Citi Field), but apparently not travelling well.

I agree. Maybe that team will luck into a Diamond title over the next 50 weeks.

The mostly Live Collections Hollywoo are still very competitive in Gold after winning Silver. Mookie Betts is my only non-SE starting batter, Peak Kershaw is my only non-SE starting pitcher, and 1944 Max Lanier is my only non-SE reliever.

And interesting but mildly irritating news, of all the historical diamonds in the game, I drew a second 1929 Lefty O'Doul. He doesn't sell for very much (although he's quite good) and he can't crack my OF or my DH (he's more or less an inferior Billy Williams). I don't think selling him off for 8,000 points is worth it, so I guess I'll wait until he's in a collection.

Marathoners are in Diamond 356, a strange 26 team league. We've started out 6-13 and no one on this team is playing even close to decent baseball. Can't hit, can't pitch, BP is useless. And most of these teams are LIVE Mission teams with little to no upgrades, or worse. Now the Washington Agents, Champions of every level they've been in and an 888-111 record, is another story. They're in a different world.

YakAnglers are 6-13 in Silver. No idea.

Battle Corgis are 7-12 or something like that in Iron. I Give up.

D360: Two Reasons to Post

First, there are a lot of familiar team names in this league; should be competitive to the end.

Second, after last week's "Welcome to Diamond, Red Raiders!" 61-101 debacle, I feel the need to point out that if the season ended today, Huntley would be in the playoffs. (Sssssh, let me enjoy this while I can!)

Over the first two months the best cards I pulled were a few 86's ...

Up until today, when I pulled this one
