What kind of league interests you
In researching what seems to be the hot button for OOTP leagues, I want to see if I can get the community thoughts on what you think what makes a league one that would have you interested in joining..
What features, what rules, historic or fictional, Slack, Stats +, Forum, website.... If you could play in any kind of league what would it be. Finances, sim frequency etc.. And that being said what would make you stay. I have been on both sides of this question as both a GM and a commish, So I do understand the dynamics of leagues, And it seems that leagues are getting harder to fill. But there are a lot of leagues that are able to fill and stay filled with good active mangers... So if anyone has any thoughts on what makes the perfect league let me know I’d be interested in hearing. |

Newb here, but I would be most interested in a league where everyone takes it seriously (no crazy trades/big spending in one season etc), sim freq is pretty quick (to get through each season in a couple weeks), finances are realistic... Like I said, total newb and haven't even purchased the game yet, but if I could find a league like this I would buy it right now. Have very little to no interest otherwise tbh.

I love leagues with scouting turned OFF. I believe it evens the playing field as no one gets stuck with a bad scout. Coaches turned OFF preferably as well. This lets us judge GMs solely on the talent that they acquire and develop, not the luck of the draw on whether or not you get the best scout or coaches.
I love seeing some sort of trade review as well, so that no new GMs get absolutely wrecked in a blockbuster trade which unfortunately I've seen before. |

Do you get a MLB team and start there? Are you to set up your roster on a Sunday night and then the games get simulated for that week? Many thanks. ...Bob in Buffalo |

Personally I only play realistic MLB leagues but it would work with a fictional league too. All the player's ratings and potential ratings are visible for everyone to see. Everyone knows who the best players are and who the best prospects are, but also GMs value the individual ratings differently leading to plenty of different strategy. Trades are more fair since everyone knows what they're getting, drafts are less of a crap-shoot but there are still plenty of busts (especially pitchers). Most of my leagues do 7-day sims so yes, Sunday-Sunday. That way people who like to use daily lineups can do so. One of my leagues sims daily, simming 3 or 4 days at a time. |
