Odd prospect rankings
Wondering if anyone knows why my prospect rankings are so funky with not so great guys highly ranked.

I’ve had the same issues even in ootp20. They also occurred in the yearly osa too 100 prospect list and it’s always batters. I’ve also checked if it’s a mismatch between my scout and osa, but no. The funky players that are highly ranked are always super bad like half start potential.

The only thing I can think of is if your "player evaluation ai" settings are completely out of whack.
The only its kind of possible is if some low star guys in low minors puts up a couple of tremendous fluke seasons. Which means maybe he has TCR happening and scouting hasn't caught up to him yet. But that be the rare exception. Like 1 or 2 players total. Or you found some kind of weird glitch caused by god knows what. |

I usually have the std settings. It also happens a lot more the more years I’ve played. I don’t thinks it’s a problem the first 3-4 years.
I think I’ve had years that 7-10 batters in the rankings have been totally worthless. They usually are spread out evenly in the rankings from top1-top30. I have also checked them after changing the scouting accuracy to 100% and the still suck. |

Seriously wonky stuff going on there and I'd be inclined to agree with yourself and others in this thread. Have seen it in the past where after several years, players get picked up on MLB contracts only to be waived within 2-3 games. This might be more to do with player eval and the AI's (unweighted?) approach to stats generated in independent leagues. AI GM: Oh, look a guy that batted .340 with a +121 OPS in the PECOS league. He'll be great ML depth for my Cubs. *signs to ML-minimum deal* (Two days later) AI GM: .... *side-eyes scouting department for letting him make the move* |

I haven't gotten that far into the future. Are both you guys greater then 10 years out? Maybe the pipeline gets glitchy that far in the future.
I guess a good test would be start a new default mlb universe and sim 15 years out and see what the pipeline looks like. |

ACTUALLY, I think I know the answer! I’ll have to check when I get on, but....
I don’t play w ghost players, in the middle of the season, I got an alert that gcl teams couldn’t field a team. I had to turn ghost players on and then to add to a thin FA group, I deleted an IND league allowing those players to populate the FA list, thereby giving kore players for the gcl teams to sign. I then turned off ghost players. I will bet, those players were all the top prospects in the IND league and its getting screwed up in mlb prospect rankings now. |

Yeah, this is a common bug. In OOTP19 I had a sace where Ryan Rinsky was the orioles number 2 prospect despite not having an OSA or scout rating above 30.
