Changing Minor League Affiliations.

Theres always a Minor League Affiliation shuffle every other year. I'm currently doing an A's franchise and I dont like my Las Vegas affiliation because of the park factors which inflate offense and make it hard to translate stats...

How do I swap minor league affiliations with other teams?

You can change affiliations in the minor leagues' League Settings.

It should also be part of League Evolution.

Does this properly swap the players so that they remain in the correct organization? I haven't done this in years, but I know at least a few versions ago it wouldn't swap the players, so you had to rename the teams manually, update the logos, etc., to make sure the players stayed with the correct organization.

You have that right AFAIK. If you're going to that length you may as well just replace the LV park modifiers with something more neutral. Just enter 1.0 in all the boxes, that's what they used for Citi Field for years in OOTP.

The easiest way is to simply rename the teams.

I’ve done this by manually moving all players on the teams to swap up or down a level. Swap the affiliation in the settings. Then move the players back to the team

I don't know if this will work because I haven't tested it, but in order to reduce the "shuffle" and/or simply assign the teams to your liking in advance, you might try editing the Franchise ID/Affiliation field in the MiLBteams.csv file that you would find in your ... data/stats folder. Over the years, OOTP has evolved to where fewer files are editable (well, to be clear, the csv files remain editable, but OOTP relies on them less and less for the data; it comes from odb files instead).

At any rate, before trying something like this, always make backups of any files you try to edit, and of your game... And again, I don't know if it will work... May try and test it soon if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Here is the easiest way to keep the players in their organizations:
  • Go to each minor league team's "Team Settings" page.
  • Make notes of all of the team settings on the left side of the screen.
  • Go to the first team involved in the swap and change its team settings to those of the second team.
  • Go to the "Modify Team Colors, Logos and Textures" Page. In the upper right hand corner, use the dropdown menus to locate the second team. Click "Okay" to replace the first team's colors, etc. wtih the seond teams.
  • Go the the "Edit Ballpark" page, locate the second team, and replace the first team's ballpark characteristics with those of the second team.
  • Go the the second team's page, and perform the same actions to replace the second team's settings with those of the first team.
  • Go to "League Settings"/"Leagues and Teams" to change affiliations.
  • All done.

Each team will now have the same players as before, but it will be located in its new city with its new affiliation.

Whats posted above is viable but if you want to keep team histories in tact:

Step 1) shortlist all the players of the team in question. Name the shortlist to "Organization Name - Class."

Step 2) Repeat process for all affiliate teams in question.

Step 3) Select all players one shortlist and mass move them to a different minors level. Repeat for all shortlists.

Step 4) Go into the "league & teams" tab under league settings and adjust team affiliations however you wish (just double check you moved each player on that team off those teams).

Step 5) Once the affiliation changes have been made, go into each shortlist and mass move those players back to their correct level.

This is a good tip. Thanks for posting this.

No, if we sticky every individual thread that's helpful, the first two pages of the forums will be sticky threads. A better option would be one sticky thread with commenting turned off where the mods put links to a thread like this with a short description of what the thread helps with.

Great idea! Like an OOTP Tips directory.
