Fighter Changes
Hi,
Over the years there have been many fighter updates. I just recently got TBCB 2.5 to work again and got it installed on my computer. However, for some reason, I am not able to get any updates prior to around 2018. pilight (Kevin) was very kind and let me have a copy of his database and I'm very grateful, but it is still missing a lot of the updates. For example, I know that Rocky Graziano was updated to have a much higher HP than the rating of 8 that came with the game... and I remember substantial changes to James J. Corbett and other turn of the century guys. There are many, many examples like that. Could someone who has had TBCB 2.5 installed for a long time and has kept it updated for years, please create a new universe, fight one random fight and save it and then zip up the entire saved game and allow me to download it. I know that that's a lot to ask... but there are years of updates to fighters that I'm missing. I want to make sure that pilight (Kevin)understands how grateful to him for what he did for me. But if someone could do the above and post it somewhere where I could download it from, I would be so grateful. Thanks! Last edited by Mark42661; 04-29-2020 at 07:51 PM. |

Graziano has a punching power of 10 in the uni I uploaded. I don't think he ever went higher than that.

In my game it is showing Graziano with a HP of 8. That's the saved game you uploaded. That's strange. It seems like pasting your saved game over mine worked because the total number of fighters went from about 6800 to about 9500. I wonder why there's a discrepancy with Graziano's HP? I'm assuming there are probably more discrepancies. I must have done something wrong, but I can't figure out what it would be. What you uploaded is just a saved game, right? And I would just copy and paste it over a new universe I had just created?

Well, I'll be a monkey's well-oiled plaything! This time I tried something different. Instead of pasting your saved game over my saved game... This time I created a new universe and then deleted everything in the folder before pasting your saved game into the folder. Now I have Graziano with the HP of 10, and the updates to Jim Corbett and Tom Sharkey and others that I wasn't seeing before! I'm sure there are many others, but those are the ones off the top of my head. I guess the key was to delete everything first before copying and pasting your universe into the saved game folder.
I knew it had to be something I was doing wrong on my end. Last edited by Mark42661; 04-29-2020 at 10:27 PM. |

Did you do Update From Pool? If so, it probably overwrote the ratings with the old ones.
What you'll want to do is go to the config.ini and blank out all three dates. It should read TimestampFighters= TimestampRatingRecords= TimestampFighterBios= Then from the main game page do Update Data Pool. It's the bottom left, right under Load Saved Game. It will say it's loading for a few minutes, then give the triple error message. Despite those error messages, it actually does load the majority of the changes. Then go back to the config, ini and change it to read TimestampFighters=20180516000000 TimestampRatingRecords=20180516000000 TimestampFighterBios=20170217000000 Do Update Data Pool again. It will say it's loading again, then it should come back and say it successfully loaded some number of each. Then go in to your universe and click Update From Pool. It's on the bottom right next to the RFG. After it finishes you should have all the changes that will load in 2.5. |

I will give that a go.
It looks like deleting my saved game files before pasting in your saved game files got me all the updates (such as Graziano and Corbett, etc..), but I'll still need to follow the procedure you just outlined to get future updates, correct? Thanks so much for all your help! 2.5 is a hard game to give up on, isn't it?

Yeah, the game will overwrite the files in the saved game with whatever's in the files in the default data unless you get them updated.
You can look at the default ratings under Documents/Out of the Park Developments/Title Bout Championship Boxing 2.5/DefaultData/Rating Records They're divided by weight class. The first number of the file name is the fighter's boxrec id. You'll need to use XML Notepad. The fighter records can be seen at Documents/Out of the Park Developments/Title Bout Championship Boxing 2.5/DefaultData/Fighters. They're divided by gender, and again the first number in the file name is the fighter's boxrec id. They're also XML files. The biographies are at Documents/Out of the Park Developments/Title Bout Championship Boxing 2.5/DefaultData/Memo/FightersBiography. They're just text files. The boxrec id is the whole file name on those. |

Updating the Pool on the main screen loads any changes from the web database to your default data. It doesn't affect a saved game until you do Update From Pool.

If I have a universe set up and I don't want the fighter ratings in that universe to be updated, all I have to do is not update from the data pool from within that saved game, right? I guess just to be safe, I could also uncheck the "Link with Data Pool" box on each individual fighter's page. Now if I did that and then updated from Data Pool from within that saved game, it would import new fighters but not touch the ones already there, right? I've never gotten that error. A search through board history suggests it might be a firewall issue, your device won't let you connect to the server for some reason, or your game doesn't have the .27 patch for some reason.
