Does this happen in every game?
Hello,
Been playing my first full season now and there's a couple things I've noticed that seem to happen very often. My batters will strike out with 2 strikes way more often than my opponents do. Also, I'll walk probably 3/4 of batters I face with 3 balls, yet my player's won't get close to the amount of BB. And finally, I've noticed the most frustrating part is that my opponent seems to score a damn good majority of their runs with 2 outs in the inning. Doesn't matter the situation on the bases, I've jokingly dubbed it the "Visa 2-out Rally" as it's so frequent, I feel we should sell advertising for it. Just an FYI, my team is currently 69-60, so we're not great but certainly not a terrible team. Am I having a one-off or is this a normality in OOTP? Still love the game, just notice these things and it's annoying lol |

With all due respect, this sounds like confirmation bias.
Yes, there are times when it seems like the baseball gods are against you (I've had situations where I'm trying to get out of an inning, and then back-to-back errors happen and my world gets flipped upside-down). But on the other hand...things like that will happen to the AI, as well |

Unfortunately, there's no easy way to look at this from a league-wide perspective. However, the data is there. If you go to a player's page, batting stats, then go to the "splits" dropdown, you can look at what they've done in any count you want.

I agree that there are too many runs scored by the opposition with two outs -- quite often with two outs and nobody on base.

I highly doubt there is anything in the game engine that makes computer controlled teams more likely to score runs with 2 outs.

Any runs scored against my team with two outs are too many! And I blame OOTP for them.

I've had this feeling in the past.
And then I've had to remind myself that it is human nature that we notice the instances where something unexpected happens to affect us negatively than the instances where it favors us. I have to remind myself that if I was managing against my team- the leading run scorers in the league- I was probably be cursing how often they score with two outs while my team can't seem to buy a run. It's why such a large percentage of sports fans feel that the umpires/referees, etc. are biased against their team (paid off? instructed by the league?). But if you are really convinced this is happening, this would be my recommendation. Keep a manual tally for a little while- how many times, for instance, did the opposition score with two outs in an inning? How many times did my team do so? After the thousands of games I've played with OOTP I'm pretty confident that after about 10 games or so you'll find that this all starts to average out quite nicely. It's just so darn infuriating watching your team give up two-out runs that it imprints more strongly in the memory.

Edit or a 4 base error. Exceedingly unlikely.

FYI in 2019 from BR
24.8% of runs scored with 0 out 38.0% with 1 out 37.2% with 2 out Take 10 random box scores and check the game log for outs when runs scored. I'd consider 30-50 game logs would be a better sample size.

In my 7 year fictional league I am about 47 games into the current season.
My team is pretty decent....currently 28-19....and as a hitting team, not a patient one, but overall good eyes....typically last few seasons my teams batting has low K & BB overall. My current stats for 2-outs pitching - AB R H 2B 3B HR BB RBI K AVG 568 51 129 38 2 12 78 44 142 .227 hitting - 640 52 169 29 6 16 94 45 97 .264 My current stats for runners in scoring position pitching - AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K AVG 374 58 108 26 4 11 152 46 72 .288 hitting - 544 57 160 31 2 17 206 49 93 .294 |
