What rock have I been living under??

I play on an old desktop, but I do own a laptop. The laptop is the better computer, but I just prefer the desktop. I purchased 21 last week, but today was the first time I've fired up my laptop since then.

I was in the middle of a game on my desktop when my laptop finally got done updating Norton and other stuff after being off for a month or more. I'm a Steam customer by the way. So when I opened my Steam game library I was surprised to see OOTP21 already listed and it said running. When I clicked the option it said connect.

This is where the "living under a rock" comes in. My game loaded up on my laptop with the exact game I was playing on my desktop in the exact same spot in the game. I was so stunned I hit finish game. It did so and when I went in the other room the game was finished on my desktop. I still think I'm imagining things. I closed down the game on my laptop and my desktop. I reopened on my laptop and my game has all the games featured on my desktop.

When was this added or am I high?

Never knew that was an option. Every time I seen that mentioned, I thought folks said it wasn't doable. Pretty cool.

Steam can do a few neat things when you have two computers. You can even run a game on one computer while streaming it to the other. For example, some games my laptop can't run but my desktop can. I can run it on my desktop and it will stream the screen over to my laptop where I can control it. Not great for twitch shooters or anything but works more than good enough for strategy games.

I discovered it a few years ago. You are actually playing on the desktop computer while viewing on the laptop. By that I mean the game is on the desktop but you can 'play' it from the laptop.

There is an option on the Steam 'Play' button to ignore the other computer and then you will be playing on the laptop, only.

One bad aspect that popped up last year is that Steam now only allows access on one computer at a time (it wan't that long ago that it allowed access). So if my wife takes the laptop to visit our grandson and lets him play 'Conduct Deluxe' (hard to not let that happen) on the laptop, I can no longer play OOTP at home. I could play Conduct Deluxe with him, but that's not an option.

So this year I did not buy OOTP21 through Steam so I could play it at home when my wife takes a quick trip to week-end baby sit. And then the plague happened.
