Why Are Players "Sneaking" Into My League Index?
Hi, Teammates,
BLUF: Despite erasing all players' service time, career stats, and history, I still find players "sneaking" into my league index/history with service time, career stats, and history from before the league's start. These players aren't available during the inaugural draft so I don't know where they're coming from or, most important, how to prevent them from getting on to a team. DISCUSSION: I play a historical game and I started with the 1901 season. At the outset and before the inaugural draft, I erased the service time, career stats, and league history of all players because I don't want anything occurring before the 1901 season. However, at the end of the 1901 season, I checked the league index and found several players (full list below) with service time, stats, and history from pre-1901. I trashed that game and started another and, like before, I erased all the service time, career stats, and league history at the outset. This time, however, and before the inaugural draft, I checked the free agent pool for the players below...but they weren't there. "Good," I thought, and I proceeded with the draft and season sim. However, at the end of the 1901 season, I checked the league index and found several, not all, of the same players with service time, stats, and history again from pre-1901. This time, I went a bit further in the game and got to the day of the first year player draft in December, 1901 (for the upcoming 1902 season). There, I saw all the players from the list below who weren't already on a team in 1901 sitting in the free agent pool. For these players in the free agent pool, I simply deleted them and that solved the problem. Now, before each first year player draft, I simply go to the free agent pool, look at players there for any with service time, stats, and history from pre-1901 and I delete them. So, I've solved the problem for every season from 1902 onward. What I still can't figure out, though, is how do I prevent any of these players from getting on to a team in 1901. And, as I noted above, they don't appear in the draft pool for the inaugural draft. After the 1901 season, when I'm able to see them, I've tried to go into their profile and delete them. While that's an option the system offers, it doesn't work. Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance! If you look at the players you listed, I'm guessing the majority of them will have one thing in common. They all missed the real life 1901 baseball season. Therefore, they aren't part of your 1901 inaugural draft. When you get to the end of the 1901 baseball season, OOTP imports these players back into the game, because they played during the 1902 baseball season. Problem is, OOTP doesn't realize you erased all history and imports these players with stats. Really ruins a leagues leaderboard, when 99% of the players have one season worth of stats and about 1% has careers worth.

Thanks for the insight, David. You're spot-on...every single player in my list played before 1901, did not play in 1901, and played after 1901. In short, and as you said, "they all missed the real life 1901 baseball season." And you're right again, my frustration is they mess up the leaderboards. I keep trying different ways to prevent OOTP from importing them back into the game. Thus far, no success. It appears none of them had "great" careers, though, so, in time and as my replay progresses, they'll drop off the leaderboards. That may be the best I can hope for. Still, at least I now understand WHY they keep appearing. Thanks so much for your investigative insights! Much appreciated!
