Free Agency Issues/Different from known 5.13 bug

This issue has been brought up before by Matt Rectewald but a free agency bug has popped up yet again on another commish's computer. This time someone who is in numerous leagues with Matt and runs a league that Matt is in (not blaming Matt). The commish exports all the offers and runs the first three days of free agency. At the end of the three days, he gets the file ready but then realizes that there is the issue with the display offers sheet, meaning many offers aren't showing up on there even though teams have received emails from the players. Now, fast forward through days 4-6. It was assumed that the offers were in there even though they were not showing up. However, some teams did not re-export offers and when the next file was put up, did not receive emails that players they had bid on during days 1-3 had signed with other teams. It appeared as though the offers did not stick. I know this problem has been asked about but still no solution has been found. Is there any thoughts or instances where this has been seen elsewhere about offers being lost? I think Matt has tried completely unloading and reloading but I'm wondering if it is a league specific corruption in each file.

The only instances that I am aware of where offers don't show up is when they would fall in the range of "not being considered" so to speak by a player. In other words, being TOO low of an offer. No idea if this is the case or not.

No this is obviously a bug situation. After I simmed the first 3 days of FA, I ran the Display Offers report and it was stocked fill of free agents and teams that made offers. Then I want to process some trades and OOTP actually locked up on me. I had to kill it and restart it and the finished processing trades. I went back to free agency to get a html copy of the Dispay Offers report to upload and now when I ran it, it was very bare with just a few players listed and a few teams with offers.

As Wildcard describes, this has happened before in the ORB and the MBBA. We have never been able to accurately figure out what is causing it.

BTW, I am on the 2nd version of patch 5.13 as well.

For the record, I have nothing to do with the FIBB file issues. So that rules out it being my fault.

This is the key. Anytime OOTP locks up on you, you MUST restore the league from a backup or you will have problems.

That is funny. If I were to do that, our league would go nowhere.

Lockups can cause such things as games with stats not recorded, player signings and extensions that don't go through, and all sorts of other nasty stuff. I am fairly certain that this is what caused the FA bids to get messed up here.

Maybe then the autosave feature needs some looking into? Lockups I find are extremely easy to get when you Alt-TAB to your league message board to confirm players dealt while you are on the OOTP Trading screen.

I also frequenly get lockups during game sims.

There is no way going back to a backup is reasonable in these situations. To even make this a worthwhile avenue would have me backing up at an insane, unrealistic frequency.

Thanks for the diagnosis and I do not doubt you, but I'm not real encouraged.

What I usually do in these cases is just minimize the game to look at msg boards, etc. I never use alt-tab. I've found that I've only needed one backup for each sim doing this and have never had lockup problems as you describe. I'm also running on XP which seems to be more OOTP friendly than other OS.

I NEVER "alt-tab" to do this I just minimize as sporr has said to handle league issues.

I never alt tab or minimize. Get a big monitor, set it to a high resolution, adjust the size of your IE so it fits below your game and click back n forth. You can still see all the 'important' info on IE while looking at the game.

haha

I'm gonna go buy a new monitor b/c OOTP doesn't properly support the common Windows functionality of ALT-TAB.

haha
