Most teams in the low tier tourneys are pretty similar so it really is a crapshoot. You can play the exact same opponent and sweep them 4-0 then get swept 0-4 the next time. The odds of winning a 32-man tournament are pretty low when everyone has a similar shot.

I'm putting those odds at 1 in 32.

Broadly speaking yes, although looking at the data, especially for pitchers, the effect is more pronounced the higher up you go. E.g., there are no live pitchers who are really viable at the open and diamond level. At gold, there are a few relievers who are solid (though not the best options available) and no starters. At the silver level there's more, and at the bronze level some of the best pitchers you can have are lives. The effect seems to be a bit flatter with batters.

I've entered 4 Bo3 Gold tournaments and won 3 of them. Meanwhile I've entered 38 Bo7 Gold touranments and won 2 of them.

Just lost a series in 7 to a team with a 9 man staff, all relievers, 4 in the starting rotation. I guess the game still doesn't penalize you for using relievers as starters. their starters got into the 5th inning, for the most part.

San Dimas haven't won a 32 man Bo7 in 3 weeks now and they've had 4 3rd/4th place finishes already today! Man, who've I upset?

Between my three teams, I have played in about 100 best of 7 series and have zero 1st/2nd finishes. I have had a few 3rd/4th finishes, with most of them involving my team taking a 3-1 series lead only to blow it. It's brutal.

We have made some changes to the tournament master lists, so you'll see some prizes be shifted around slightly. Also a firesale on tournaments today - a lot of bigger ones that haven't filled have dropped the number of participants to get them filled and running

Yeah, I noticed that yesterday and, ironically, I haven't placed in a Bo7 since.

This morning, we have deployed a new Tournament list. Essentially as new tournaments populate, you will see changes to max teams, rewards and other potential changes. It will take a few weeks to cycle out the old listings to see how the new ones perform in terms of registrations so we'll be monitoring that over the next 14-21 days.
