Big FA Contracts and injuries

Three times. Three...

I signed James Paxton to a huge 6 year deal and less than a month into the season...torn UCL. Out 11 months.

The next season, I signed Jacob DeGrom to a huge 7 year deal and less than a month into the season...torn UCL. Out 12 months.

The following season, I signed Jose Ramirez to a huge 6 year deal and less than a month into the season...torn flexor tendon in elbow. Out 8 months.

Once sucks, of course. Twice is really bad luck. But three times in a row? This seems like a problem with the game itself. It doesn't seem like this is a likely scenario, at all. There is no historical reference that I can find of a team signed big free agents in three consecutive years and they all get injured within THE FIRST MONTH of the season.

Devs? Please don't tell me this is RNG. Can't be.

To be clear...this is the same game file. It's not three separate new games.

And, again, it's the fact that they ALL HAPPEN WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH of the first season with the new team. I would ask that the devs give me a probability percentage (based on their programming) of this happening.

The problem with this, is that millions? Billions? Of seasons are played in OOTP. So, something that's a one in million chance is going to happen. Multiple times.

That's why I play with lower injury ratings, and I still avoid players with "Fragile" injury proneness.

I actually just checked, and I had changed the injury frequency to "low" as well.

And this still happened.

I still believe this is more than coincidence that 3 big FA signings three years in a row end up with season-long arm/elbow injuries within the first month of the season.

Injuries happen nothing you can do. You might go several seasons with no big injuries over the course of a universe.

you are using a minuscule sample size in a minuscule time frame. the brain hones in on the negative examples and makes a bigger deal out of it.

pitchers blowing there arms out are common in modern mlb. again ask the mets.

It's cause you're playing as the Twins. The game notices those signings and then Thanos' snaps it to make the universe right again.

Believe it or not, this explanation makes more sense to me than the “random RNG” argument I’ve been getting.

Agreed.

This seems nefarious.

This is one of the storylines -- there's a notorious criminal in Minneapolis who is sneaking around destroying elbows in the middle of the night, then quickly getting in his car and zooming away.

Nobody has ever seen him, but his license plate says DRANDREWS.

Nah, I know we have code in there to cause havoc when you're playing as the Mets, but I'm not aware of any Twins-specific injury code.
