Just will be a new league for me with All Time Greats composing every team.

Cousin and I disagree with some of the OOTP21 choices and hope to be able to
swap players. But 80-90% is agreeable.

Well...it's not that big of a deal but I am ending my attempts at doing the great players games with my cousin.

A lot of time and help from you guys and I just think I will stick with enjoying OOTP21 with regular season replays or tournaments or short series and the historical realm (my fav).

I got things setup in the Great Teams quickstart mentioned by Pstrickert and others here but I just didn't work out. Spent enough time on this. I want to play the game : )

Played a few games in the Great Teams setup in quick start and got nothing but errors during the game. One game had my team against my Great White Sox. I was playing at KCR park. In the second inning the pitcher pic on the field for KCR was Saberhagen. But he wasn't the starting pitcher. : ) It was a guy named Appiar or something like that. His named and pic showed in the first inning fine.

In the second inning it was weird. The pic on the mound and name was Saberhagen...but in the bottom right of the screen for the pitcher full data it was Appiar. : ) Simmed the game and the boxscore was crazy with names left out and false names put in. : )

Appreciate all the help and time you kind fellas gave me on the Great Players effort.

But I give up...spent too much time on this including picking out my players etc.

We are back (or at least I am) to playing regular OOTP21 games with real life teams : )

Sorry to hear that, Jack. I wonder what happened. So far, in my experience, I've seen nothing out of the ordinary. When you speak of "errors," what kind are you referring to? Does the game stall or crash or what? I suppose you could download the file again, in case it was corrupted the first time.

Errors...

Played a few games in the Great Teams setup in quick start and got nothing but errors during the game. One game had my team against my Great White Sox. I was playing at KCR park. Again...it's no biggie. I'm having a blast doing Historical replaying the 2005 World Series with the White Sox.

I tried two games in the Quickstart tag that you gave me.

Problems with data about the game...player names changed...items
left out of boxscore etc...

I just had spent too much time on this...and working with my cousin.

Just back to playing OOTP21 without trying to get just Great Players for a team. : ) No biggie.

Well it went pretty good. Only played 2 games though. We have decided to drop the attempt to just have great players, however.

We are just back to replaying World Series games and currently making our own. My 2005 CWS against his 2016 Cubs. : )

I looked into doing an online game with my cousin but all I could see was that you have to have a full league. Just looked like too much stuff to do.

We just wanted to see if there is a way to play a single game against each other online without a league etc etc.

We just enjoy the game play.

And one more reply. We now are having troubles with the Historical play like we had before and just put up with them...but now there are more problems. About to give up.

I've tried replaying 4 World Series in the past two weeks. Here is what happens amidst the fun stuff.

No series gets to the proper number of games with playing games. If a team leads the WSeries say 2 games to 1 then at sometime in playing the page that shows the game results with the league roster players on each side will say something like...A team leads 3 games to 1 or wins 4 games to one. And I've only played 3 games. 4 times in a row this has happened.
Somewhere within the first 4 WSeries games the Historical goes ahead and adds wins to one team and losses to the other from games that have not be played yet.

Plus even with the game main settings setup for just one batter to be faced by a relief picture...plus any league games setup for just one batter to be faced by relief picture if I want that...the Historical game won't allow that. Doesn't matter if I'm replaying 1919 or 1935 or 2005 or 2019...I still have to have a relief pitcher face at least 3 batters.

And even though with help from you all I have finally figured out how to printout the boxscore/game log data...I now have times when the boxscore data does not include 'any batter/pitchers' name on the screen...just the stat data in the boxscore.

Maybe I just need to re-install the whole game It just gets old. : )

Doubt it is the pc or the install of the game software. But setting up a fully custom league isn't an easy thing. There are a ton of settings and it seems your settings are accurately setup for what you are trying to do.

Notice the 3 pitcher rule is the modern day 2020 mlb rule but it can be turned on for whenever now. It is one of the countless settings that need to be checked.

Jack, I've reported the 3-batter rule to the proper authorities. Hopefully, it'll get fixed sometime in the next decade.

I wonder what's going on with the series games. I have not see it happen, ever. Would you be able to walk me through the steps you take when playing out a game? Do you exit the game and return to it? Do you change any options? Do you hit the "finish today" button? I know it might be tedious, but I don't know what else to suggest.

Maybe later today, Pstrickert I can write out the steps. I know that sometimes I hit Finish Day after stopping a game in play and when I go back the game is over...but that doesn't always happen. ??

[I]Here goes. Hope I get this typed correctly.

Picked the teams...69 World Series in Historical Replay.

Game one:
1. End of 4th inn. Hit 'Save game & Leave'

2. Returned to WS screen...then to 'Return to OOTP main screen.' Exit OOTP.

3. Reboot OOTP...went to Historical Exhibition...hit Continue previous game. Hit PLAY.

4. Completed game from 4th inning. Finished game. Orioles win.
Added sentence to RECAP. Orioles win 6-2 Lead series 1-0.
Printout of Boxscore and couple of key innings Log. Went to Return to OOTP main screen. Exit OOTP.

Sometime later booted up OOTP again.

Went to Historical Exhitbition...then to 'Finish Today.'.

Showed the screen with WS games/data in middle of screen and team rosters on either side with their game totals.

Game two was ready with PLAY....or SIM.

Hit PLAY and setup lineups etc. Another fun game but Orioles won again.

After end of game...printouts. WENT to play game 3.

It had Game 3 there...with option to PLAY or SIM...
BUT BIG ERROR AT TOP OF MIDDLE OF SCREEN: showed Orioles
leading in series with 3 wins and Mets 0. But I've only played 2 games!!!

Went to play game 3. It was an awesome game played through in one setting. Mets win 1-0 in 12 innings !!!!

But after did the printouts etc I went back to OOTP main screen and Exited OOTP.

Came back later to play the key game 4 but could not play it.

The main screen at the top showed the Orioles winning the Series 4 games to one but under top title below showed only 4 games. Game 1 & 2 were accurate and Game 3 was with Mets winning. But showed a game 4 win with Orioles winning 4-2 or something like that but game was never played.

Haven't been able to complete by fully playing a single Historical World Series with the new version (or with last years version). Always interrupted by game 2 or 3 or 4 with Series being over.

Jack, I followed your instructions, step by step, and the same thing happened. Somehow, a "phantom" game was played. I've since filed a bug report. Also, I filed a bug report earlier about the 3-batter requirement. It has already been fixed in the latest beta build. Now, let's hope this other problem also gets resolved. Thanks for the detailed description. It has been very helpful.
