Good evening fellow OOTP lovers. Recently decided during this horrid time I’d take in a new sport and Baseball is the sport.
I’ve played my first season on OOTP 21 and now I have a load of players who are due to run out of contract. A few questions if you could be kind enough to explain for me 😊: 1) at the end of their contract (what date is that) do they walk away from your team? 2) players whose contracts are running out but it states (arbitration) next to them. Do these automatically stay or... Many thanks, |

Hey.
So a guy that is out of contract and has 6 or more years of service will walk. It happens some days after the world series ends, you will get a notice. A guy that is out of contract and has at least 3 years of service, or is one of the top service time people of 2 years of service, will get arbitration. That means you get to pick a wage, the player picks a wage, and a third party decides which is more fair. There are no inbetweens. First year arbitration tends to be cheap, later ones more expensive. Many teams decide to settle with the player before it comes to the actual hearing cause arbitration processes are quite annoying to the player (essentially the team is telling the arbitrator why the player isn't good enough to deserve what he wants, which is kinda demeaning to him) You will always keep the player at the arbitration price though. If he has 2 years of service and not enough for the top group, or less, you can extend the player for free for the minimum. Those guys are valuable. |

Oh ok, that makes a bit more sense. I am guessing with trades it’s like the NHL and you trade the players contract? But a high earner you can pay some of the contract to help the trading club?
Also waivers, is there 1 way and 2 way? And also players on injured reserve do they always go into the AAA to get fit? |

Yes, you trade the players contract, though you can retain a part or ask the other party to retain a part of their contract.
I'm not a hockey guy, so I dont know what 1way and 2way waivers are. Basically, if you pick a waived player, you get him and his contract. An injured player can be removed from the roster for 10 days if a position player or 15 days if a pitcher and goes to the "injured list". He still gets paid. If he's injured more seriously, he can go to the 60 day injured list and he doesn't count for the 40-man roster either. In any case, if he has returned from injury, he can go for up to 20 (position) or 30 (minors) days on a rehab assignment to the minors if you feel he needs time in the minors before his rehab is fully completed. After that time is over, you have to either put him back onto the roster, release him eating his contract, or if he has less than 5 years of service time and has minor league options left, or if he consents, you can put him in the minors for good. |

is it also a thing where if you do place them in minors for rehab that when bringing them back up you cannot put them straight into the 40 man roster?
